There is a significant problem with this device. The plastic dowel that inserts into the base to complete a loop slips out very easily, and so you MUST make certain that is is facing up while you measure anything. This makes it really frustrating to use. I was able to compensate by wrapping the dowel in two thicknesses of magic tape, but it still isn't perfect. I find myself resorting to the plain measuring tape I had before as often as not. Seemed like a good idea at the time. That said, it does measure accurately if you can secure the loop (it doesn't stretch), and even though it is plastic, the spring loaded retractor seems to work fine. I assume that since I don't use it a lot it will also be durable.

Wish I had read more reviews before buying it. The mechanism for retracting the tape doesn’t work, which defeats the whole purpose of this type of device. Fortunately, it wasn’t expensive, but the “no return” policy still means I’m throwing money in the trash.

It is a good idea and cheap, but it means Defective. I just got a defective one, and it is too late to return it because it was a year ago. I was ready to exercise, but unfortunately, whoever made this tape was clever to WASTE my money. There are parts of the missing tape, and the white tape is backward. I cannot use it. I guess I have to go back to the "old fashioned way." So just DONT BUY IT because it is cheap, which means IT IS defective.

The numbers are way off on each side (the white side has about 2 inches before the 1 & the yellow side starts at almost 2 inches), the little bar doesn't stay in the slot so one person can use alone (like it's supposed to be used) the retractablility sucks! Terribly made!

It looks just as they picture. I love this the extended length makes it more inclusive. I'm not worried that the tape is going to be too short. The looping feature is so helpful. I can do measurements more accurately than with a regular measuring tape. I recommend this highly. It isn't fancy, but it is well put together plastic device that functions as it should.
