An exceptional oil-based treatment that sinks beautifully into rough-sawn timber, leaving a rich, water-resistant finish without the eye-watering chemical smell of traditional creosote. Because it's oil-based, it actually draws deep into the wood grain rather than just sitting as a film on top, meaning it won’t crack or peel over time. Unlike old-school traditional creosote, the smell is surprisingly mild and dissipates quickly once applied out in the open air. The Light Brown option gives a stunning, natural warmth to the timber that highlights the grain perfectly (as you can see on my finished gate photo). Being an oil-based creocote substitute, it has a very thin, watery consistency. You need to be mindful of drips on surrounding brickwork or paving when applying it. bought this to treat and protect an external timber gate, and the application process was seamless. It goes on incredibly smoothly with a standard fence brush, soaking into the dry wood instantly. It doesn't drag or leave sticky patches like heavy water-based paints sometimes do. It rained shortly after the gate dried, and the water-beading effect on the surface was brilliant. It completely seals the timber against the British elements. If you want proper, long-lasting weather protection for fences, sheds, or gates that keeps the wood looking like real wood, this stuff is top-tier.

Excellent product! 😁 used on fencing, went on easy, dried well and covered evenly, only had to use one coat too, packaged well and arrived quickly, recommend and have already ordered some more 😃 As for comments on it being thin/runny liquid: it’s oil based wood treatment not ‘fence paint’ so obviously it’s not as thick as paint so use less on your brush it won’t run 👍

First time buying this but I am very pleased with the colour and the result. I used both a brush and a sprayer (with PPE). The only downside side is that it smells quite strong. Just one container did the whole workshop and just a tiny bit left which I put in a jar.

Fast delivery and used up within a couple of hours of receiving it. Good coverage despite being very runny and got a lot of it running down my arm when applying it. Will definitely buy again, good value, excellent product.

Used this to paint my wooden log stores. It's consistency is like water and the rough sawn wood just soaks it up. I do really like it though as it gives a nice light brown colour with the first coat but gets a lot darker with subsequent coats. I like to stain wood rather than paint it as I think stain looks more natural. Each to their own though.
