It is 17" high, but it does taper in a little at the top - which is probably why they say it fits a 15.6" laptop You can see it most clearly on the 'Back View' photo - if your laptop is 17" tall and a typical 9-10" wide it might still work but could also be a tight fit and hard to zip all the way Overall though this is a very nice laptop bag, study, functional and very well made

just wipe it down with a soapy sponge I guess - the 'charging port' is really just a USB cable - there's no battery or anything so if you dropped in a mud puddle or the toilet you could probably just remove the cable and throw it in the washer
