It's completely ok for the collar to get wet.  The pheromones are released by body heat and not water.

Is this the same as the Adaptil brand collar?

The packaging states, "powered by Adaptil," so, I'm sure it's the same stuff. I looked at both websites but I did not see statements which specifically say that. I've used diffusers from both brands & tried ThunderEase calming aid spray which I liked better because the diffusers left a drippy residue on the walls around the outlets they were plugged into. I didn't like the mess. The calming spray was much cleaner but lasts about 4 hours and takes 15 minutes to reach effective potency. We ultimately tried ThunderEase collars and they've been the best choise for us. Our girl is visibly calmer and more confident and she gets continuous support. Over the past 6-8 months, she also seems to be developing coping skills with the T-collar support.

Why did I Have to take it off due to dog scratching at it, he seemed more hyper with it on.

We think all the Adaptil products are great and we really needed a solution for our Beagle rescues who were extremely fearful and even considered “special needs” adoption because of it. 
After 2 years of being with us, in a calm and quiet environment- just the 2 adults, we began using the Adaptil products. For the past 8 months we have used the wall plug in diffusers and these collars. We replace both every month.  We can tell when the collars start to lose their effectiveness. 
Also after a few months of using these we talked to our vet and she suggesting putting the dogs on Prozac and that was a great decision! In fact, after all this time we have seen one of our pups’ personality just blossom! I don’t think we would have ever known her true nature had we not put her on the Prozac! 
Now she is a cuddle muffin, where before she would barely let us touch her. We continue to use our Adaptil regimen in addition. They work in a different way from the Prozac. 
I’m sorry the collars don’t work for every dog, but they really help ours.

Is the collar removable?  Our lab/pit likes to go in the pool.

Yes it is removable, it can also get wet so they can wear it in the pool.

I got this for my lab who needs to rest after an injury, she's not an anxious dog but she has HIGH energy. This started helping her relax after like 10 minutes of it being on. She has been on rest for a week and was going nuts. Now she's calm and happy 😊
