solid performer
This Polish Saber by cold steel is a very solidly built sword. If you are like me, one of the things that drew you to this sword is it's looks. As sabers go, this is probably one of the best looking swords in the market. In person it looks even better than in pictures; and for the price the fit and finish are remarkably well done. The edge that this sword comes with is sharp but not shaving sharp. The geometry is good though, so if you like your swords hair shaving sharp you will want to touch up the edge. This sword performs very well (cutting through water bottles and bamboo with ease) and has great edge retention; for having used a steel like 1055 it is incredibly tough and holds a good edge; great job cold steel for the heat treatment! There are only a few downsides: one, the weight; although 2.5 lbs is not heavy for a sword, it is a little more unwieldy for a sabre. The pob is around 7" forward of the guard and that means it is a lot harder to move than most one handed swords should be. The other negative is the thumb ring. The edges of it are very thin and so after long use it can start to irritate your hand quite a lot (and it makes this soley a right handed sword; sorry lefties). For such a heavy sword this thumb ring is necessary to have good point control, it could just be a little more ergonomically designed. Apart from these two flaws this is an excellent sword and for the price ($200) you really will be hard pressed to find anything better on the market. More than anything thing though, this sword is a blast to use; I would whole heartedly recommend purchasing this sword.

great saber
i have multiple sabers and different kinds of swords. this one instantly became my favorite. four stars because handle came with rust on it, now i have to take car of that. great balance. sharp enough. also have cold steel 1796 saber, that blade is just a little too heavy to be comfortable, but not horribly so, only sharpened half way.. windlass 1860 light Calvary saber, love it but not sure about the durability, sharpened from kult of athena, sharp enough. 1917 improved cutlass, neat sword, not very sharp, too short to cut well, great point, cool to have a pirate sword. polish sabers balance is as good as it can get. could do without the thumb rest, doesnt bother me much though, makes it look cooler. this would be five stars without the rust, sabers have become my favorite type of blade. have the hand and half maa longsword as well, great sword for money, sharp enough, durable enough, feels good in hand, not really great, but good. am happy with all of these swords, just trying to point out flaws. i do have a few swords im not a big fan of because of balance or sharpness, blade weight/whatever. have dragon king winter sun katana, to heavy of a blade, not sharp at all, not worth the money dragon king apoc wasteland gladius, pos, not worth the money, crooked blade that is too light and flexible, heavy handle. cold steel chineese war sword machete, not great, not bad, worth the money if its all you can afford., cuts heavy stuff well though.

You won't find better
You won't find a better saber in this price range! It's sturdy, the red leather looks fantastic, and the thumb ring is quite ergonomic. Mine came very sharp from the factory and the matching scabbard is a looker too.The cons are it's very heavy (2.5 to 3 pounds) and the grip is for a giant's hands. I've got big hands, idk who on earth the grip is made for lol. But remember, in this price range these are economy swords. I got this to complete a ren fest costume so the aesthetics are exactly what I was looking for. Fast shipping too A++

Historical, museum quality!
I am a small time collector of edged weapons, so far I have close to two dozen swords, majority from Cold Steel, this particular blade is truly a piece of art! Deadly art! I received it with a heavy coating of cosmoline? It took a good 20-30 minutes of careful scrubbing, the blade was quite sharp and had no blemish, overall it is one of my top 5-6 swords, the scabbard is also top quality! I believe this would have made a formidable saber back in its time, better than the real ones in many aspects! For the price, it is truly a great value when you think of what you receive! I for one would rather save my pennies and purchase quality such as this piece than buying one of the many lower priced inferior quality available on the web! If possible go look, handle one of this maker's blades, you will understand why I am partial to their products! PS: there are a few other brands that offer high quality and high value edged weapons, Del Tin, Cas Hanwei ( second favorite) etc...

Beautiful, sturdy, and sharp, a great blade for the price.
First off, the blade is SHARP, not razor sharp, but still enough so to where it can cause some serious damage. While most of the blade is up to historical spec, it is a bit top heavy, not enough to be noticeable right out of the box but you will begin to notice it the longer you swing it. Another thing is that the thumb ring can dig in to your thumb, as it is not rounded, can, but it's not a huge issue, I'm more often than not wearing gloves so it doesn't effect me as much as it would someone who is not wearing some sort of padding.Beyond those minor inconveniences, it's great. The blade isn't very forgiving in terms of edge alignment but it has a sword wind sound as it moves through the air which can help you with strikes. Sturdy enough as far as swords from coldsteel go. It's hilt one of the most comfortable I've ever held, craftsmanship is beautiful, and the finish on the blade is beautiful. It's doubtlessly one of the best swords in my collection, and the price, they could easily charge twice what this thing is worth and I'd still consider buying it, if they improved the weight and thumb ring issues this sword would be absolutely perfect.

Beautiful saber.
Absolutely beautiful blade. The cross guard and hilt could uses a bit more work, there are several blemishes and the brass isn't centered but it still is a beautiful peice. My only complaint is that whatever they coated the blade with for shipping has gotten down into the scabbard and smears all over the balde when pulling from the scabbard.
