3.5 Stars but I bumped it up!
This is book 2 in a series where each book is a separate love story. I have yet to read book 1 as I came across this one on sale. You can read this as a standalone.I really liked this book... The story had me fully engrossed, I really had a hard time putting the book down. The romance was intense, there was lots of action and suspense and this author has written some of the best love scenes I've read!!So why only 3.5 stars... there was just a couple things I couldn't over look... The epilogue was seriously lacking and disappointed me which caused the loss of .5 of a star. This was a 4 star until that moment. The loss of the other star was because although I did really like this book and the story had me fully captivated, there was too much description and not enough dialogue. I really like a fast paced story, and though at times this was, the constant over description had the story dragging too much for me to give this a higher rating.I do recommend this book to all you historical romance fans out there, I to will continue this series.

When she is good...
As an author, Karen Robards is like the nursery rhyme about the little girl who had a little curl, right in the middle of her forehead. When she is good, she is very, very good, and when she is bad, she is horrid.IRRESISTIBLE is, indeed, very very good. This evaluation applies only to the novel's place within the genre of historical romances, however; one cannot judge romances by the same yardstick as is used for literature.Still, IRRESISTIBLE is about as good as this category of writing can get. Robards tells an interesting story against the background of the Napoleonic Wars, and she creates a true feeling of the period. As always, her heroine is beautiful beyond words, her hero is to drool over, and her sex scenes are hot, hot, hot. In acknowledgment of modern values, there are no rape scenes, unlike the historical romances of decades past--and this change is a real improvement in the genre.Any reader who enjoys historical romance will find IRRESISTIBLE to be... irresistible!

Loved.
What a sexy, suspenseful, adventure/romance! I’ll be sorry to see this trilogy end, but on to Beth’s story…it should be a doozy.

Too much descriptive fillers
I usually enjoy Karen Robards' work very much and so I'm sad to say I don't enjoy this book at all.I say don't because after reading the first several pages of the Kindle edition, I realized I already own this paperback. I didn't remember because the story, characters, and writing style are infinitely forgettable.I found myself skipping 2-4 pages at a time of descriptions of the characters looks, clothing, and what they found attractive about each other. It was all so very trite and the tropes so familiar there was no need to read.As for the actual story, it doesn't read well when you have to skip forward 2 pages to read the next bit of actual dialogue and or action. The first half of the book was interminable. The second less so but only just. For me this was made worse by Ms. Robards throwing in every bit of cutesy period slang that she could think of. I get it...it's a novel set in ENGLAND! A long time ago!I guess that's why I prefer her contemporary stories. They all have the same basic plot (a big problem with popular authors) but the characters are usually well written and interesting. And the same can be said for the story as well.I recall liking the first book in this trilogy but would not recommend this one.

A Great Historical Romance!
Robards has another winner with Irresistible! This novel was not as enjoyable as book one, Scandalous (which I loved!), but it was still a fantastic read. Robards did get carried away with the description at certain points, but that was only a minor distraction. Hugh was an amazing, wonderful hero and easily lovable! I was sighing in delight quiet a few times while reading this novel! There are plenty of twists and turns in Irresistible to keep you turning page after page after page. I put this book down only a few times because I had to know how this story would end!Overall Rating: 4/5Heat Level: 4/5Lisa @ Once Upon A Chapter

Love This One, as i do for 'Scandalous'..
Thoroughly enjoyed this book from the time she was abducted first time, and of course, the momentous second abduction. Love the beautiful Claire, who is not all frail, as the wonderful Hugh would find out later. I like reading a story where the sub-plot(s) may hover over all scenes, but never overwhelm the main. Karen Robards is wonderful at this. Now, am an going to read the third of this series.

Intrigue. Adventure, and Romance
The story of a woman betrayed, her adventure escaping her captors and meeting the man who will resolve the mystery of her abduction. This is a good story but resembles another of the author's books and causes this book to be disappointing even the secondary characters are more interesting.

Much better than the first!
Although I did not love the first book of this series, I thought I would give the second book a try and I am glad I did. The story was interesting from the start and I love the build up of romance between the hero and the heroine. I couldn't put the book down and found myself rage to finish work early to come home and continue reading.
