A Must Have Book!
Love this book! I'm so excited to share it with my students! Representation MATTERS. As a Puerto Rican woman, I love that this book depicts a brown skin family that is supportive and encouraging Basquiat's interests. The crown throughout is a symbol of strength and empowers young readers, especially black and brown children that are often negatively portrayed in the media and kept from aspiring to do big and better things! This is a must have little gem of a book. (Board book targets they younger toddler ages 3K/PreK classrooms, but the content is great for elementary- art introduction to his work)

My son and I loved this book!
