Quality & performance. Perfect modernization.
TL;DRExcellent controller. Arguably better than the Pro Controller, in my opinion, and definitely better than PowerA. The turbo option is a bit inconsistent but turbo is a niche feature anyway. Otherwise, everything works exactly as expected. Quality plastic, quality buttons, solid connection, good battery. The buttons on the bottom are a godsend for high input games. 5/5, would buy again (probably going to get a second/third for friends)I wanted a controller to use with my new Switch and had familiarity with the Gamecube-style controller but didn't want to use the USB adapter/GameCube controller for every casual game session. I tried the PowerA controller and it felt like complete rubbish. Low-grade plastic, unsatisfying buttons, and it required AA batteries. Immediately returned that. Then we bought a Pro Controller, which my partner really liked because it was similar to the xbox-style. It's good but too similar to the xbox, which caused me to jumble my inputs frequently. We kept it, but I don't use it.So I ordered the HORI and immediately fell in love. It feels just like the original GameCube controllers with some slight differences. Obviously it has all the new inputs required for the switch - plus, minus, home, share, L-bumper. But it takes this even further and has to rebind-able bottom buttons as well, which is incredible for input heavy games. The biggest difference purists might notice from the original GameCube controllers to this modernized HORI version is the ZR and ZL buttons are just that - buttons. They are no longer pressure triggers. This doesn't matter because the Switch doesn't use pressure sensitive buttons but it is worth noting the difference.Ultimately, I believe this is a near-perfect controller. In transparency, I haven't tested the motion controls yet. If they're good, then I'll be too busy playing to come back and edit this. If the motion controls are bad, I'll update the review.

Great Product with a couple of minor issues.
I have always loved the original GameCube controller ever since I was a kid. I've been looking for a controller that is as faithful as possible to the original while also giving a couple of added features to improve gameplay with new games. I REALLY like the fact that Hori added a L button to the controller as almost every game requires this and in the past I would have to map this button to another already existing button just to get by. Hori also added buttons for when you click in both joysticks which is also a necessary feature as a lot of games have you run this way. The Joystick and C stick feel fantastic and the controller overall seems pretty good quality. The buttons feel really good as well with a few exceptions which bring me to why I can only give this controller a 4 star rating. To me the Zr and ZL buttons on the original GC controller are one of the most stratifying and defining features of the controller. That tactical click you gen when you push down is fantastic. Hori's controller lacks this. The ZR and ZL buttons are a bit of a different style and feel very squishy which I personally do not like. I don't find this to be a HUGE deal but It is a bit disappointing. Overall I think if you are looking for a controller that is faithful and can be used with almost any modern game this Is probably your best bet. Loving it so far.

Amazing controller for SSBU
This controller has a great comfortable grip, the buttons feel nice, and it even has some button settings to hotkey certain buttons for inputs. I use it to play Kazuya Mishima for SSBU and I'm able to input his moves with ease. The only downside isn't really a downside; pairing it took a second to figure out because it's not like other wireless controllers, at least ones I've owned. Other than that, no qualms with this controller whatsoever

Great controller.
If you want a wireless controller for Smash, Switch, or PC, this controller is great. If this sort of thing is a make or break for you, there are no analog triggers/shoulder buttons. I prefer this controller over the PowerA Gamecube controller because while that controller also doesn't have analog shoulders, the empty travel is present. If you have used the wired version of this controller, it's mostly the same but there are a few changes present. The Good~Bluetooth (duh) with USB C port~Additional buttons on rear gripsThe Bad~No textured grips (wired had textured grips)~Odd placement of Plus button. The placement on wired version is reasonable but the wireless version's Plus button is way up on the controller. (more of a personal complaint)I primarily use this controller for Smash Ultimate and GameCube emulation and it works well enough. No shield platform dropping for me, LOLZ

Misleading Bluetooth Compatibility
I recently purchased the Hori Nintendo Switch Wireless Battle Pad (Zelda) Gamecube Style Controller, expecting it to work seamlessly with various Bluetooth devices. Unfortunately, despite being marketed as a Bluetooth controller, it did not connect to my Wii using a Bluetooth adapter, nor was it recognized by my MacBook. This leads me to believe that it might only be compatible with the Nintendo Switch, which is acceptable but not clearly stated in the product description. This misleading information can be quite frustrating for users expecting broader compatibility. It would be helpful if the description were more transparent about its limitations. With that said, the controller felt well-built, but I was unable to test and had to return it.
