Madonna - Ciao Italia: Live from Italy

Wonderful concert with a bunch of great songs. Sounded amazing.

I saw Madonna on this tour at the CNE Toronto in August 1987 so I was already prepared for what to expect, but in hindsight this concert actually seems quite quaint—not an adjective normally used to describe Madonna. This was her second tour—and the last before Blonde Ambition—the point where each of her shows became a big planned spectacle and she became a control freak demanding perfection from herself and those around her. There is a spontaneity here that is refreshing, and at many points in the show there are no background dancers, nor any whiplash-inducing edits—just her singing, dancing and having a good time, something that seemed to be sorely lacking from all of her shows this millennium which all had this cold, calculated vibe to them.Of course, being over 30 years old, the show is like a time capsule. It’s fun seeing the background singers in their poufy skirts, flats, and crimped hair—all the fashion rage at the time. The AIDS crisis was at its peak and the timely message of SAFE SEX is flashed onstage during PAPA DON’T PREACH. During said song, Madonna not only performs this unintentionally hilarious funky-chicken dance step while singing the chorus, but she also leans back on a chair and strikes the iconic True Blue album cover pose. This is the only chance to see her perform live THE LOOK OF LOVE, which should have been released as a single, as it almost rivals LIVE TO TELL as one of her moodier ballads.Sure, this concert has some goofy moments, but Madonna was clearly enjoying her newfound fame here, wasn’t nearly so self-conscious or as full of herself as she’d become the next decade. VERY fun to revisit.

I love this show so much. Madonna sings and dances like her life depends on it in this show. Her band is fantastic, the songs are played well and the choreography is fine too. She even speaks Italian in a few parts of the show to the stadium sold out crowd. Being Italian myself, it was great to see her perform in the homeland. The setlist focuses mostly on True Blue & WTG Soundtrack which had been released that year. Highlights include Papa Don’t Preach, White Heat, Live To Tell, etc. I don’t get the some of the 1 or 2 star reviews. Pick up the dvd because it’s the only document of this era from Madonna.

This is a great video to own if you have never seen it before, or even if you have. This is "Madge" at her very best! It's raw, it's candid, and it's real!! No trickery, magic, or fake stuff here. Just 100 minutes of great older (1988) Madonna music. There are 14 songs and she changes her outfit throughout the concert. This is how music videos should be, and used to be. Just her and the music, real simple. No fun and games. Just music. If you're a REAL Madonna fan, you SHOULD own it! Get it on D.V.D. right now! Don't wait!!

After having read a few of the reviews here -- of course the choreography is rough and the costumes are trashy -- she had just gone from having a few successful hits to becoming a major international act. But, remember, this show is before she became a household name (in the famous or infamous sense!) due to the high profile films, banned videos and that what-was-she-thinking-sex-book.I like this show because she is working her rear end off to energize the crowd. And I think she succeeds wildly. There are some questionable material choices ("White Heat" for one), some strained vocals (especially "Live to Tell"), and her costume designer should be blacklisted forever, but remember the time and place and just enjoy the energy of Madonna and the crowd.As for the DVD - nothing special in terms of packaging (we expect more, thank you very much) and the sound is definitely not remastered. However, if you are an admirer of Madonna, this DVD is a good snapshot in time of her rise to fame.

I had been excited about getting this, but putting it in all of my DVD and Blu ray players --- nothing. Fortunately my computer came to the rescue and I can change regions from the current Region 1 (US) to Region 4 (Argentina). Apparently the Seller knew nothing about Regions, as it was not mentioned. However it is the same concert had on my Laser Disc years ago. I just wish I could find "Blonde Ambition" like the one from the Laser Disc.

This is probably not the best Madonna concert, but it does have more heart. Madonna seems to enjoy performing and feels the crowd, opposed to later concerts where there is almost no audience interaction.Positives. (1) Great songs (2) Madonna puts her all into itNegatives: (1) Madonna's voice (2) Bad ChoreographyThe DVD itself is Ok. The sound not bad considering it's just a transfer and the video is fair. I think the VHS version is better. Hopefully it will be released with remastered sound.A must have for Madonna fans and if you're only the casual fan then skip it. Revenir en arrière à mes plus belles années....Pas trop de changement de costumes saurait été mieux, surtout dans ce pays qui est le siens aussi...... Mais satisfaite d'avoir pu m'éclater les oreilles et chanté comme une dingue j'ai fais profiter les voisines(âgées) mdr..... Love Madonna ❤️❤️❤️

Me llegó en 3 días, la caja completamente sellada y el disco sin daños. Era el único concierto de Madonna que faltaba en mi colección y es sumamente difícil de conseguir, tuve la suerte de ver 1 disponible y no dude en comprarlo. Excelente precio.

Llego a tiempo y precintado correctamente. Sin grandes derroches audiovisuales. Se trata de una de las mejores giras a nivel vocal de madonna.

Diese DVD *Ciao Italia - Live from Italy* ist so süß und voller Liebe. Madonna spricht italienisch und das wüsste ich überhaupt nicht! Madonna ist die beste!
