ViewSonic TD2230 22 Inch 1080p Touch Screen Monitor, 10-Point Multi-Touch for Retail POS and Kiosks, Durable 7H Scratch-Resistant Glass, 100x100 mm VESA Compatible, HDMI, and DisplayPort Inputs

I've been looking for a way to have a digital battle map for my D&D games, especially after spending the pandemic getting good at using Roll20 as a DM. I got this monitor hoping it would allow players to drag tokens during combat and other encounters, and the monitor actually exceeded my expectations. Not only can tokens be dragged, multitouch gestures like pinch zoom, two finger scroll and long press work flawlessly . This is right out of the box with Windows 11. I didn't even have to download drivers. Quick hint to those getting this. Make sure to plug in the USB cord the monitor comes with to your computer. That's how the touch functionality works. It is simple advice, but I don't think I saw a mention of that in he manual. Anywho, I really like this monitor, and I recommend it to any curious DMs who may be reading this review.

When I first received this monitor, I installed it with the HDMI cable and couldn't get the touch screen to work. I contacted Viewsonic support and they promptly informed me that I failed to connect the USB-B cable in addition to the HDMI. The USB-B cable provides data to the computer for the touch screen. I was very satisfied when the touch screen worked after installing the second cable. Viewsonic has been my go-to company for monitors for 20+ years, and once again, I wasn't disappointed.

My only compliant (hence 4 star) is that nowhere in any of the documentation, either included included in the box or online (like ViewSonic's own User Guide for this monitor), even mentions the touchscreen, which to me seems really odd. With that said, when I initially plugged it in, I just connect the HDMI and power. There was no mention that I had to plug the USB cable too. I only realised this after a couple of hours of troubleshooting on my own when it made perfect sense that the touchscreen is basically a big mouse on top of the monitor, hence the need for the usb cable (I also remembered that HDMI data is (for most data) is one way. Other than that, I have only had this monitor for a few days, it has been great. Currently using it with a Chromebook as an external monitor (that screen is touch as well). The stand in the back has worked well for my needs. I did test the max angle (I think it is 70, this is not in the User Guide either), but I would probably only use that if I was standing when using it.

Am using this to develop museum kiosk touch screen displays with a BrightSign brand controller. It works very well so far. The touch pressure is appropriate and the screen display looks good. The owners manual is a little sparse on detail. You should know that the touch screen output from the display goes through the serial port on the monitor that looks vaguely like an Ethernet connection - it is called a USB type B connector and is used or was used on printers in the past. A cable is included to fit and the other end is a USB type A that can connect or easily adapt to fit whatever is looking for the touch screen position information. I could not find this info in the instructions but found it through experimentation. Probably common knowledge to the computer experts - but I do not live in my parents basement haha. Too soon to comment on long term performance, but I have noticed a lot of Viewsonic touch screens for the cashiers at grocery stores - for whatever that is worth.

I really like this monitor. I bought two touch screen monitors to use in vehicle mounted project to monitor my Holley EFI system. This one was too big so I wound up using it in the living room on the coffee table. Image quality is very good and the USB hub is nice. The kick stand is a nice addon too. The only con I've found so far is the speakers' sound quality is very low/mushy and they are not very loud. So if you want decent audio you'll need external speakers.

I really want to like this product, but various design choices leave me feeling that this is the product you make when you don't care too much. Let's get what works out of the way first: 1. The panel itself is good quality and the OSD works fine. Text is clear, colors are good, and no blue glare right out of the box, or in other words, the image is comfy. Brightness was set to 100% out of the box. I dropped it to 50%. 2. The low 7.9 lbs weight makes it portable, which is what you want if you move it around the house or take to clients. The thin bezels give it a modern look with a high screen-to-body ratio. 3. It also has an edge-to-edge glass cover with a claimed Moh's hardness level of 7 - which I don't believe at all, as glass scratches at level 5.5, and hardened glass at around level 6. I can only hope this screen will resist scuffing (in a protective case) while exposed to the NVH of my trunk. 4. The integrated USB 3.0 hub (version 1) is better than competing products that only have USB 2 or just an upstream link for the touchscreen. 5. Touchscreen works well - no problems. Now, let's get to the issues: 1. The port covers on both sides of the display are not only difficult to remove but one tab already broke on the same day I got the display. That was on my 3rd attempt to remove one of the covers, and I was careful. How is this supposed to last I have no idea. 2. The built-in speakers are just atrocious. I really can't say a single good thing about them, other than maybe that there is something instead of nothing. Imagine a transistor radio from the 70's. No, not a new transistor radio, but a 50 year old one. That's how bad the speakers are. It's like an engineer just found a cavity big enough inside the case and said "There!" 3. The power supply is positively tiny, so why is it that it wasn't integrated into the display to begin with? And there would be plenty of space if you consider my next point... 4. As others have noted, all ports are on one side except the the HDMI port, which is on the other side, at the top of the cavity. Why? What kind of corporate laziness caused this decision to seem ok? If they moved the HDMI port to the other side, there would plenty of space for a built in power supply. As it is now, if you need to use HDMI, you will have cables coming out from both sides of the display, so forget bundling your cables together for a cleaner look. Plus, since the HDMI port is at the top of the cavity, you most likely need to lay the monitor face down to plug it in, something none of the other ports need since they are side facing. Did ViewSonic do any usability testing at all with this display? Seems like nobody gave a frack. 5. The rubber on the stand is stickier and has a larger contact patch than the rubber feet on the bottom of the panel. When trying to recline the display, it's preference is to slide forward as opposed to backwards. This is bad as your keyboard is most likely right in-front of the panel. If you want to recline it properly, you have to reach back and adjust from the stand. Again, did anyone at ViewSonic do a simple usability test on this? Either the answer is no or, as the sum of the defects suggests, they simply didn't give a frack.

It wouldn't work until going direct with HDMI. The powered hub I used blocked it. Contacted Viewsonic Tech support and quickly resolved it by rerouting. It works great!

I like the built-in positionable stand, which allows you to lay the monitor flat when fully retracted or at a low angle for easier touch functions. I find it a little hard use the touch screen in the fully vertical position. As expected, ViewSonic provides a great many features, and worked fine right out of the box. It has an HDMI port as well as the usual VGA for computer hook-up.

Tried using after effects, premier pro, added touch gestures shortcut with gesture software now my workflow is much more faster. Also used basic coding and added so many shortcut buttons on the sides like ctrl+k, space, esc, ctrl, alt and many more which is useful for editing workflow using tabletfriend app

Gerät wird vom div. Lapptops nicht erkannt. Monitorkabel (HDMI,Display Port) waren nicht dabei. Keine Originalverpackung wie beschrieben. Lieferung hat Termingerecht geklappt. Trotz mehrfachen versuchen den Treiber neu zu installieren. W10 sowie W 11. ViewSonic kontaktiert über Support.
