Knorr Fix gratin with noodles and ham (Nudel-Schinken Gratin) (Pack of 4)

Very easy to make and tasty. Being German, I grew up with Knorr and Maggi mixes. Yes, the instructions are in German, which is very evident fron the pictures.

I absolutely love this stuff for dinner! It’s easy it’s quick and most importantly tastes like it’s homemade comfort food! Totally recommend this!

The instructions are in German so you must translate into English, as well as convert the measurements from the metric system to standard US measurements. However, once you do this, its very easy to make. And very tasty! I used two packets for one casserole and got about 4 servings from it.

I love these Knoor packets and they are hard to find in the U.S. So I saw this on amazon and the price seemed fair. You get four packs and each pack says 2 portions on it. When our kid were little we lived in Germany and we made "Nudels" from this packet often as a side dish and it fed the four of us so I think you can get more than 2 portions out of each packet. Anyway, it said that delivery would be about a week or so and I was fine with that. Seriously, what's the rush to get these? Not everything needs to get here overnight. And I know with a click of a button it's on its way versus I have no idea when I would get to stores in the area that *might* have these in stock.The directions are in German which I speak so no problem there. But if you didn't you could type the three steps to prepare this recipe listed on the back of the packet in google translate.I'll be ordering from this company again, satisfied customer.

I decided to make this as an entree instead of a side dish using 16oz of Penne Pasta. I used a 10x13 baking dish but it was full to the top so you may want to use a slightly larger dish. I purchased a 1/4 sliced hickory smoked ham from the grocery and diced 16oz of it or slightly more. You could also use Canadian bacon though that would be more expensive.I converted the measurements measurements for one packet (below) and multiplied by 4 since I was using 16oz of pasta vs the 4oz (125g) that the packet calls for. If you only want to make 8oz or half a box of pasta, just double the following conversions for 1 packet and use 2 packets. I used 4 packets for my recipe.125g Pasta= 4oz125g Ham= 4oz100ml cream/half and half= 3.5oz50g cheese= 1.75oz400ml cold water= 14ozI warmed the cold water and sauce mix until it steamed and was just slightly thickened. I didn't boil it. Then I ladled it or poured it over the noodles.I baked the casserole at 350 degrees for about an hour. To be honest, I wasn't sure how long this would take so I just kept baking until the liquid was bubbly and thick and then I topped with some grated swiss/guyere mix and browned the top with my broiler. It worked out, got thicker as it cooled and was delicious. I served immediately but it was very hot and I would recommend letting it rest for about 10 mins before serving to prevent burns.
