Functions
This works as intended.Although, be aware of a couple tips:1. The clips don't hold the letters as tight as they should. Just be careful not to bump the clips when you are moving it around.2. Also, it is kinda hard to heat it up. I put it right in the flame as I'm heating my grill, but it has to be put close to the flame under the grate. I want to be warming my grates up so they are ready for the meat. It takes a little finagling to get it out when I'm ready to throw my meat on there and brand it.But it does work, and it is fun to use. Just remember, it's not more than a novelty item.

it's pretty cool, but could have been better
The letters are actually pretty small and a pain to load in and out. Not that it's difficult, it's just a process. Especially if you want to write different things on different pieces of meat you might be grilling. Kind of hard to clean too. You have to really heat it up good and then press pretty hard on the meat and leave it there for a while to get a nice sear. This will probably take some practice. Also be careful not to get dark grill marks on the meat or you won't be able to read what it says :/Overall I enjoy using this and it's a lot of fun, but I wish the letters were a bit bigger and a bit easier to change out.

Packaging needs cleaning
Received when promised and product was exactly as described. I scored 4 out of 5 stars because product packaging was dusty and dirty, I tried to clean the packaging (because these were bough for gifts) but even still they looked old like they had been sitting forever on a warehouse shelf. Otherwise loved it, perfect for the bbq quru.

As Crummy As You'd Expect...
2 starts just because it was a fun idea, got this for my bother in law for his birthday who loves to BBQ. He was really excited to try it out while we were camping; worked for one round heating up in the fire pit, then marked one steak (I recommend branding the already cooked side - he branded the uncooked side then flipped it over and it mostly scorched off). We put it back in the fire to warm up again and when we pulled it out, the letters fell everywhere. The side brackets that hold the letters in were not secure enough. I suggested stretching them out so they fit more snug next time...I don't think there's going to be a next time as it was a bit of work and pretty disappointing :(

I thought it would be nice for him to be able to stamp the steaks ...
Cute idea, but not exactly practical. I bought it as a gift for my dad, but he hasn't gotten much use out of it. I thought it would be nice for him to be able to stamp the steaks with "rare" "medium rare" etc, but realized that changing out the letters for each steak would be a messy pain in the neck.

BETTER THAN THE OTHERS!
I love that this item has interchangeable letters (no others that I found did) so you can create your own words/sayings. However, it doesn't have any punctuation so you can't spell { Joe's BBQ } with the apostrophe. A small thing but would be better with at least an apostrophe in the letter options!

The letters' relief is not high enough--they do not stand ...
The letters' relief is not high enough--they do not stand out from the bracket enough. The bracket burns the meat as well and thus over and underlines the letters. With the letters being as small as they are, this makes them hard to read after the branding.

Great product, lots of fun. Proofread food before serving to children :)
This was a Christmas gift. It arrived on time, as described. And then the grill broke. Because of course it did.Anyway, we tried it indoors using the stove top (gas flame) and it worked fairly well. Once the grill is up and running I have no doubt it'll be great. In the meantime, my boyfriend entertains himself by searing inappropriate comments into food. Personal favorites- "that hurt" and "eat my meat"
