Comrfortable in the hand, sharp on the wood.
I am getting into basic carving I saw these and opted to give them a try. Yep, pieces of what looks to be spring steel, well sharpened and polished cutting edges, epoxied into hardwood handles. Bang for the buck, I'd looked at more expensive tools, but I believe these were sharper and more ergonomically correct. Overall, they cut well and feel they were money well spent. Good value.*******Edit... I've had and have been using these tools for some time now and if I had the choice I WOULD NOT BUY THIS SET... the tools are so good that I wish that I had bought the larger set off the bat- the large set has several of these in it so there is a certain amount of redundancy in affordable expansion. These really are great tools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

great for printmaking and misc multimedia carving
I love this line of tools! They make more shapes and sizes than any other I've found, are very sharp and ergonomic. Plus- though I've not tried it, you can by the blades with removable handles that can fit in some power tools. They are also just above half the price as other high end carving tools. I use them for printmaking and plaster carving (which beats the f**k out of them, but they hold up really well compared to my other tools)
