Review: this book is quite good because it gives many examples from law aspects when ... - I’m working for 3 years as a web designer and a web programmer. Some people say that search engine optimization is dead now. From my perspective, search engine optimisation is still essential feature for online businesses and it will grow more. I have read many books relating search engine optimization and looking for those books but most books did not deal with law aspects. Other authors simply say that do not perform black hat seo because it violates google policy, that’s all. They did not address real impact in practice. In this sense, this book is quite good because it gives many examples from law aspects when people violate seo rules. Before reading this book, I did not realise that some of my seo skills are quite risky in some way because I did not know that it was a part of black hat seo! I should not use it in order to avoid any penalties by google or law suits. For me, this book is not easy to read cause, there are many legal terms. I do not have any background knowledge of law but there are footnote referencing which helps me to understand the content. Overall, this book is worthy to read and will provide a guideline for your seo campaigns so that you may avoid any legal issues while seo campaigns are running. Review: Well-researched, scholarly, but could be more elegant - I presume that this informative ebook had its origins as an academic paper -- the appendix includes a lot of prep material that looked to be for submission to an advisor or professor. Its clear explanations of the basic terminology of SEO was helpful. I especially appreciated the author's direct engagement with how precedents set by the American legal system both have and have not been translated into the Australian context. I was researching an article on intellectual property for a client at the same time as reading this book, and I found its discussion of copyright quite useful. The author writes with conviction and credibility, and there is an extensive bibliographical apparatus to support the claims. The self-published nature of this book, however, was evident. At times the phrasings were unnecessarily wordy, and the transitions between sections of each chapter ham-fisted. Of course, the price also reflects that the author didn't send the text to a professional copy-editor as well -- so overall, I found this book a worthwhile purchase and a good starting point for basic information on SEO laws and practice in Australia. I am sure the author's original scholarly paper was well-received, but I would have like to have seen a little more adaptation for the desertcart marketplace.
