Q: Is the hook on the heel that holds the outsole in place plastic or metal? If it's plastic I'd be afraid it would get broken.

I won't be buying these again because I had a sole come off in the middle of the river. Not sure if a rock unhooked it or what but they really are not all that secure. If you wade in bouldery streams it wouldn't be hard for a rock to snag the seam on the side of the toe and pull the small plastic tabs out freeing the entire sole. I bought new soles recently and I will be glueing them on.

Q: Would these work with fins for float tubing? Just wondering if anyone has any experience with fins and these boots. Thanks!

Yes. I’ve used mine with fins no problems.

Q: Are the inserts removable so I can put my custom inserts in?

The insoles are removable on these boots. Make sure that your custom-made insoles are waterproof.

Q: I wear a size 9, with neoprene stocking foot wader should I get a size 10 or a 9?

I would recommend going with a 10 if you’re a true size 9. You’ll appreciate that extra space. Unless you wear a 9 and already have decent space at the end of your regular shoe. One thing to keep in mind is if you ever wear a sock in cold temperatures to help with warmth, you definitely want the 10 to accommodate that bulk.
