Wonderful book, so beautifully written, Enjoyed every word. Highly recommended.

A bit slow to start. Yet to finish.

Very believable portrayal of Irish values and life there and how powerful the catholic church used to be there. But some of the dialogue is not convincing. The secret that will shock them all becomes obvious about half way through. I did not feel compelled to finish in one reading. Was ok, but not a book i would read again. Not nearly as good as John McGahern.
