Does this add 3" including the seat or 3" plus the seat?

The 3" includes the seat. The risers are only 2 1/4". This is well built and very sturdy. Good buy.

Clean shield needs to be deeper into bowl

I agree! I am looking into attaching some kind of flexible plastic strip to extend the shield deeper into the bowl. For us, that would fix the splash-out problem we have with an otherwise wonderfully well-made and sturdy seat.

How wide is the space between the arms? In other words, how tight is the space for hips?

Hello Jojo. Thank you for submitting your question. The width between the support arms is 21". Please contact our Customer Service at 1-888-722-6488 if you have any additional inquiries. Bemis Independence Customer Service Team.

What is the length and width of the inside of hole where you sit?

The inner hole is 7 15/16" (width) and 12 3/8" (length). Please contact our customer service at 1-888-722-6488 and reference case 251930 if you have any additional inquiries.
