A Mat goes over the picture to create a border. It's often used when the size of the frame is too big for the picture, the mat fills the empty space.

My poster is exactly 11” X 17”. Will it fit in this frame?

I think it would,..the frame borders snap on, so there is room for adjustments...the poster I put in there was the same measurements...

Has anyone figured an easy way to remove the protective film?

Flick your thumb along an edge, as if there's an edge there on the film, until the film starts to peel back a bit, then an edge will appear. Do this for both sides. You may have to turn the plastic if one spot doesn't work.

Can this be mounted to the wall with hangers/command strips instead of being nailed to the wall?

I hung mine on a picture hanger; if the wall had taken a Command strip, I could have used that. There are two hanging points provided on the back of the frame, one for each orientation; they are attached to the hardboard backing, so I wouldn't try to load them with more than a pound or so. But I used mine for a simple poster, and it hangs fine. I like the frame - simple, clean lines.

Good Frame for the Money

Works perfectly with the 11x17 poster I bought it for. Don't forget to "TEAR OFF BOTH SIDE FILM on the font of Transparent protective sheet (cover)." I noticed in some of the reviews, buyers complained it was cloudy. It isn't; take the film off both sides & it will be fine.

Dont worry if it arrives scratched

At first glance the frame was really foggy and scratched up, but then I pealed off the protective sticker and it looked perfect. It's a great frame for the price.

Terrible cheap quality

I wish I had seen the other reviews before I ordered. The front is not glass it’s not even a sturdy plastic. It’s a VERY thin wobbly piece of plastic film, maybe a few mm thicker than what comes in the window of a mailing envelope. If you shake the plastic, it has the flexibility of a spring diving board and and probably makes the same sound. The frame itself is also super cheap plastic that is unevenly dyed so it looks like it’s scratched or streaked in spots even tho it isn’t. I could get a better quality and better looking frame from the dollar store and right now I’m sorry I didn’t. This isn’t worth $1 much less the $10 I spent. Save your money, buy anything else I assure you it will be a better investment
