Effective Console Operator HMI Design: Second Edition - Revised (Asm Consortium Guidelines)

Faboulous book!!!

Kind of a must read if you are interested in improving the design of control room displays. There's lots of valuable advice based on human-factors research.However, the book is specifically written for the hydrocarbon processing industry. There's lots of jargon from that industry, and it's unclear if any of it is relevant to interpreting the advice. There aren't any life-size examples (or, maybe they are life-size; I'm not familiar with HC processing), so it's hard to know how seriously to take the advice, especially around managing complexity through display hierarchies.

Useful book with number of examples. Great companion to "the high performance hmi handbook"
