Q: Is the magnet strong?

Yes - it is strong enough to make the fish 'jump' a little from the attraction - but it does have to be lined up right. We love it!

Q: how long is the fishing line?

About 5 inches. My concern is the plastic worm on the end. I took it away from my 20 month old because she kept putting the line and the worm in her mouth and I didn't want to worry about her swallowing the worm :(

Q: Does water get into the fish or pole? If so, does it drain out well?

I don't recall water getting in but if it does, it drains well since it wasn't an issue for us. Great game and works well. Quality is great, too.
