Great recipes and reasonable diet!
John Chatham's Belly Fat Diet Cookbook is a great resource for anyone looking to change their eating habits or meet weight-loss goals. This is a "diet" in the less traditional sense of the word and more of a lifestyle change beginning with the dinner plate. I appreciated the lack of emphasis on counting calories (who has time for that?) or extreme restriction (who has the willpower for that?). I tried the apple couscous with curry and was happy to find it delicious, filling, and flavorful. Some may find the ingredients to be intimidating but folks, isn't this supposed to change the way you eat not maintain it? There are also plenty of recipes with commonly used ingredients. All in all an informative narrative - bon appรฉtit!

Great recipes, very helpful!
I have loved using this book. You can really tell that a lot of time and care went into putting it together. The information on dieting is very streamlined and goes along with much of the other data that I have read on this subject, so I know it's reliable and accurate. The cookbook really helped me to come up with new ideas of healthy foods for myself and the family. The recipes are not difficult to follow and all of the ingredients can be found at my local store, this isn't always the case with some of those other cookbooks out there. I found that as I started to use the book and make the meals that I even evolved some of my own new recipes that are healthy and affordable. My favorite recipe so far is the Chicken Marsala, so easy to make and my husband loved it! My favorite thing about this cookbook is that it really got me thinking about all the foods that I was buying and eating. So this cookbook not only helps you with recipes but it also teaches you about healthy, smart eating and how to cook delicious meals but still stay healthy. Now that I eat healthier I've realized that most of the weight I was carrying around was caused by my diet, not necessarily my lack of exercise. I was eating way too many unnecessary carbs and not enough protein. This book really helped me be in control of my body and I feel much better and have more energy as a result. Thank you to John Catham for taking the time to put together this book!

Great recipes but with some questions
Generally speaking, this is a good book. The author delivered on his word of providing simple and healthy recipes, many of which were really great such as fresh veggie frittata, riviera tuna salad and grilled chicken and vegetables with lemon-walnut sauce The presentation was also good. I liked the fact that information was provided upfront and before listing the recipes. The only issue I had with the recipes was that the author placed the number of servings at the end of the recipe instead of above the ingredients list. While I found the data the author provided informative, I did disagree with some of his statements. I also thought he exaggerated at times. An appendix listing the studies he cited would have gone a long way towards lending more credibility to some of his statements.

Understanding that Belly Fat!
Well, we all want to lose that belly fat, and this cookbook gives you the necessary tools to begin that journey. As you open the book, the first sentence tells you that everything you think you know about belly fat, is probably wrong, and while this statement is bold it's also most likely true. The first few chapters explain the dangers of Belly Fat and why we should be paying attention to this subject for more reasons than just fitting into that new bikini. It points out common myths, how to choose the right foods and ends with over 100 mouth-watering recipes! The best thing about the cookbook is that it explains why counting calories, avoiding fats and endless crunches will not keep your belly fat away. It talks about losing stored fat instead of losing muscle. The book explains that it's not only about making the right choices, but more about how to make the right choices. And knowing how is the simple answer. It even gives you advice on cravings, the first 2 weeks (aka the adjustment period) and a shopping guide. The recipes include soups, dips, desserts, full meals, salads and snacks! They are all relatively easy and you could find the ingredients in any super market. A great start to understanding and getting rid of that stubborn belly fat!

Dine and Diet Deliciously!
This book, a companion to Chatham's "Belly Fat Diet," is a fantastic collection of healthy, delectable recipes that will fill you up and whittle your waistline; all the while tantalizing your tastebuds. The book begins with an overview of the diet, which makes it work well as a stand alone tome (although Chatham's other books are also worth reading.) The author follows this brief-but-thorough overview with over a hundred recipes, broken into sections such as breakfasts, salads, sides, and snacks. There is a section on healthy grains, although most of the dishes offered are high in protein and low on the carbs. The author also supplies a handy shopping list for the foods that can be eaten on the diet. The recipes in this book are so healthy, that regardless of whether or not the reader follows Chatham's diet, incorporating these scrumptious concoctions into your weekly meals can do nothing but good for the body. The recipes are well thought out, simple to make, and bound to please everyone in the family. A great way to get everyone to eat healthy, even if they don't want to "diet." From Breakfast Hash to Tropical Sorbet, the Belly Fat Diet Cookbook has something for everyone. It's worth a look, and a cook!

Simple and Effective
If you have tried and read every book on diets and have failed, there is now hope. The Belly Fat Diet Cookbook by John Chatham is a keeper! Finally a no nonsense, short to the point and most of all doable approach that fits anyone. The book explains in understandable terms the dangers of excess belly fat, and why and how it forms. It shows why most other diets fail and how eating the right foods and skipping the drudgery of counting portions and calories is the road to success. To aid the reader there is a comprehensive food list with great receipts from A to Z. The road to losing belly fat has never been easier and tastier- a win win for better health.

Easy and Delicious Recipes to Help Get Rid of Belly Fat!
The Belly Fat Diet Cookbook was written for those who fear dieting. Most diets out there require you to spend a ridiculous amount of time measuring and weighing every bit of food, all while counting calories - not to mention the hours you have to spend at the gym. But right away, John Chatham tells you that getting rid of belly fat doesn't require all that work. He offers up a diet plan that utilizes interval workouts, not crunches, and you're allowed a "cheat" once a week, so you're not constantly craving sweets. Chatham's delicious recipes are full of flavor and spice, and can be made using most of the ingredients you used before you started dieting (I'm dying to try the Balsamic-Glazed Black-Pepper Salmon). There's even a very helpful shopping guide included in the book for those of us who have trouble figuring out what to buy. One of my favorite things about this book is that it's very easy to read; even if you never got past freshman bio, you'll be able to understand the first few chapters on the science behind belly fat. I've never felt more inspired to start working on my midsection!

Appealing Book with Some Reservations
Abdominal (belly) fat is a health risk. It encases the gut and organs especially causing fatty liver. This is a major factor in type-2 diabetes, heart disease and strokes. Fat loss without lean muscle depletion depends on many factors. The thousands of theories and books testify to this. Motivation apart, food should vary and satisfy hunger without producing mood changes or tiredness and, of course, they should work. John Chatham sets about this task by listing foods to limit and those that can be eaten generously. His 105 recipes cover breakfasts, salads, snacks, soups, sandwiches and snacks, grains, poultry, fish, vegetables and desserts. They generally are appealing and appetising, although some are time-consuming. They contain between 1 and 8 servings which may be a problem for individuals or families, as may frequent shopping for fresh fish, fruit, vegetables and meat. Most people work and lead busy lives and have families and hobbies. Cooking may be one of them but preparing these may not be practical. A few other points arise. The nutritional content of the recipes would be welcome. The harmful effects 'unhealthy' fats in beef have shown to be grossly misleading. Also, with unlimited fruit, including dried forms, plus hidden carbohydrates in low fat cheeses and yoghourt, beware of your sugar intake. John Chatham tells us, 'You Will Not Be Counting Calories, Carbs or Fat Grams'. This would make eating easier, but moderation and 'eat as much like' have their own interpretations. Also, he writes, 'You Will Not Be Portioning or Weighing Anything', yet virtually all his recipes contradict this with measuring in the dreaded cup sizes (surely weighing), various spoon sizes and meat and fish of specified weight cut into pieces. There are no illustrations in the Kindle version (understandable at the price). This contains some useful information and omits some that many see as essential. Nutritional recipe breakdown is one and cup sizes need converting into British weights and measures. These changes would have made the book more appealing. This diet seems balanced but does it produce the guaranteed results the writer claims?
