not what I expected
I thought this would be much better than it is, not the best for beginners as stated. I'll be looking around for something different

Perfect for beginner children
I've tried a couple beginning books with my kids, but this series is really easy for young beginners and gives them confidence to play songs quickly. Especially love the optional teacher accompaniment so we can play together. It makes the simple beginner melody sound like a real song, which keeps the beginner student motivated.

Easy to follow book for beginners.
I haven’t taken piano lessons in 30 years, so I had forgotten how to read notes. I can still play by ear, so I wanted an easy to read book. I like this book because it had tips on reading notes. With that, I have been able to play most of the songs. With a little more refreshing, I should be able to get the rest. I think this is a good book for someone who has at least started taking lessons, as this book doesn’t seem to be designed to actually teach you how to play.

One of the better primer level Christmas books I've tried
Wow, I was pleased I bought this to see what it was. It's Thompson, so there may be more fingering suggestions than I generally like, but the songs follow the progress of the method book (not from the first couple of lessons, of course) and can be used with a number of primer method books as a supplement. Naturally, some of the tunes have been simplified, but that is always an issue at this level, but there are some that can be done at this level as is. I used it with two brothers I teach as an experiment this past fall and it went very well.

Fun for adult beginner
I am a 40yo teaching myself piano and ordered this for some fun during the month of December. It is full of simple melody lines that are easy to follow and sing along to. My six year old loves to sing with me when I play. I am sure by next December this will be too basic but for now it makes me so happy! I would recommend this book to both young and old beginner students. I don't think any of the songs have chords and I think only one song (Silent Night) has a sharp. This book also has teacher accompaniment with all the songs so it would be fun to pull out and use in lessons during the month of December for any of your students who are Christian. Highly recommend!
