No rinsing required for aquarium!
The media could not be loaded. So happy with this sand! I bought it as a new substrate for my new 40 gallon turtle tank (my turtle is still a hatchling btw), because the river rocks I've been using as a substrate have made it painfully difficult to clean my tank. I was worried this sand would require a lot of pre-washing/rinsing, so I tested it out in a small 2.5 gallon tank to see if it would cloud it up, (see my video) and nope! It goes in clean and the water stays crystal clear. The sand immediately settles on the bottom. Even if I brush it around at the bottom of the tank with my fingers, it still doesn't cloud up. It's a beautiful natural color; a nice natural sandy white. The grains are quite fine and sugary, so I'm not worried about my turtle having any issues if he happens to ingest some. I am SO excited to pour this into my new 40 gallon tank and set up his new home! He's gonna love it and it will look AMAZING!Note: I did buy a pre-filter sponge for my filter's intake tube to make sure no sand gets into my filter!

Will buy again for my next pond
Before purchasing, be aware that you should rinse anything you plan on putting in your pond or tank. That being said, this bag has quality and quantity going for it. I mixed this color (white) with a charcoal black color sand and my guppies love it. Guess the sharp color change (randomly) puts them at easy, and (looking from the top-down) looks really nice and it makes spotting my guppies easier throughout the day

I love this sand for aquariums.
This is probably the only sand I am going to use for aquariums from now on. It is the perfect grain size and doesn't cloud the water. It is fine grain but not so fine it goes everywhere with the slightest agitation. It works great as a sand cap for dirt or aquasoil as well.

Great sand, but beware! It won't work with intex filters
This sand is of an exceptional quality, it comes dry and perfectly clean. Particle size is extremely uniform and ranges between .45 and .55mm. I would highly recommend it for use in an aquarium. I had bought 150lbs of it for my new 3000gph intex filter only to discover it's too fine and passes through the slots in the laterals, ending up in the pool. I thought it was a filter problem at first, but then found all parts were in perfect condition. Intex specifies #20 sand between .45 and .85, this sand satisfies the criteria perfectly, but still passes through. I guess intex is to blame. After doing some research on the web I found out that #20 hth brand would work with my filter so I ordered it (it was almost half the price). The grain size of the hth is enormous and a lot less uniform, but worked great in my filter. hope this helps other people who are shopping for sand for their intex filter.

Works Fantastic for Aquariums!
So far the sand has been perfect for my 100 gallon aquarium. I ordered two bags and it filled the bottom perfectly. For 100 gallons and up, I would recommend 3 bags, especially if you're doing any planting/aquascaping. I have a couple of Plecos and they tend to stir the sand up every so often, this sand sinks to the bottom so quickly and has not been sucked into my filters. Usually when you fill a sand bottom tank with water, It takes a day for all of the sand to settle. This sand completely settled within 45 minutes. It's perfect. It has a very natural look to it, and it is a fraction of the cost of "aquarium sand"

Excellent for my Aquarium
This product came recommend to me for use in my aquarium. Washing the sand was very easy. Only took a few minutes and no residual dust was left floating in my water. It looks amazing and is a fraction of the price of pet store aquarium sand. 3 bags for my 75 gallon tank and it has a depth of about 6 inches. 2 bags probably would have been enough, but my fish are diggers.

NOT POOL FILTER SAND!!! Works great at the bottom of my aquarium though
I bought this sand to use in my aquarium. Its works great! Its the white color i was looking for. The sand is very fine and my large plecostomus easily moves it around the tank, which i dont like. But it looks beautiful and is exactly what i hoped for. The description of this product says pool filter sand. This is NOT for a swimming pool filter. It it wayyyy to fine and will not do anything to filter your water or trap dirt inside of the filter. If thats what your looking for go to your local pool supy or hardware store and buy the proper size sand. The seller needs to change their description. This is aquarium or hobby sand. Im a pool guy in Arizona with 26 years of experience. I promise you this is not pool sand

Best aquarium sand, and a good price
The media could not be loaded. I bought this because the very expensive aquarium sand I bought was awful. I sifted through the old sand every week when I vacuumed and did water changes to keep it from compacting, and it was still turning black and gross. My poor fish. After a month I knew I couldn’t keep that in the tank any longer. It took two days for me to receive this after ordering.First off, it took me a half an hour to rinse two bags of this sand. So much better than the four hours I spent rinsing one 20 lb bag of the other sand I had (and I had to use 4 bags). This sand is so much smoother, feels soft, and my cories and kuhli loaches love it! I have jungle val, octopus plants, crypts, and amazon swords-they we’re doing awful in the other sand, but this sand they are thriving! I did use root tabs, but within 3 weeks the roots are well established and the jungle Val has already sprouted new plants! I included pics of the first day I planted them and how they look just 3 weeks later.I am SO beyond happy, my plants are happy, and my fish are happy. It was an expensive lesson after throwing out the overpriced brand name aquarium sand, but I highly recommend using this instead!
