Animal Essentials Plant Enzymes & Probiotics, 300 gram

My fur-child began having allergy issues soon after she was full grown. It started with the chronic ear infections, and led into infections in her feet between her pads. Then the itching began. No amount of trips to the vet ever found any cause or solution, other than MORE ANTIBOITICS! and "Come back in 2 weeks.". At the suggestion of a pet store employee, I switched my pup to Grain Free food. The infections ended! When my pup was about 5, we began having non stop itching issues. We tried different foods, and found that gluten free seem to reduce itching. It was only a few months later though that the digestive issues began. For the past two years I have been trying (obviously thoroughly trying an option and slowly introducing or removing ingredients/factors) to find THE food that would make my girl 'regular' again. For about 6 months my homemade food worked wonders (turkey/pumpkin/spinach/berries/calcium/turmeric/fat free cottage cheese/chicken gizzards...etc). Then it too quit working, and it's been a downward avalanche for over a year. She always tests negative for infections or worms, but continues to have diarrhea. In the past 6 months, there has been no relief or regularity. We had newspapers down at night in case my husband I were to sleep through her needing to go outside (pet door not an option). Some nights she would have up to 4 accidents, no matter what we tried with food type, timing, size and frequency of meals, additives, and on and on. This supplement was another whim to try. Our girl has lost a couple of pounds that she didn't need to in the past few months, so we believe she may have EPI and/or colitis in some combination. She has been on this supplement now for 3 1/2 weeks. It hasn't cured her and made her perfect, but she has gained 2 pounds back (which is a huge relief and progress!! Finally!), the accidents have stopped completely, and she's 'regular' in her timing. Once in the morning, once in the evening- for over three weeks. While I still am on the hunt to get the 'perfect poo', at least with this supplement she is actually getting nutrition from her food, and maintaining control over her movements. We all sleep better at night, and I can tell that my girl is happy to have some relief. In comparison to a lot of other products that we have tried with similar claims at a much bigger price tag, I am thrilled at the results we have gotten. I am going to add in Honest Kitchen's digestion blend to see if between these two supplements I can acquire the 'perfect poo'. I will update my post if I get good results. 9/2/16 Update: My IBS EPI dog is now 'regular' and healthy with Olewo carrots, Honest Kitchen Perfect Form, and Animal Essentials Plant Enzymes. It took some trial and error to find the required dosage and mix, but my girl has been perfect and on a 2x routine for 2 months now! I found my dosage to be 1/2tsp of each supplement fed with eat meal 2x a day for my 40lb dog. 4/26/17 Update: My pup held stable for over 6 months before she started loosing weight again. No adjusting of food or supplements seemed to help, and the final scare was when she started vomiting after every meal- I made an appointment for the vet the next morning and just gave my girl pumpkin and broth until then. The very expensive lesson I learned that I want to share with anyone who is suffering through anything like this is that my malnourished dog (who eats 3lbs of food a day to try and maintain a weight of 38lbs) is unable to consume and absorb vitamin B. Initially she started with b12 and b complex shots every other day for a week, then weekly, and currently biweekly. She is finally almost her ideal weight after 3 months of getting these shots (I currently use a B Complex available at TSC for stressed livestock), and retaining her Darwins diet, with this enzyme and probiotics. I have also added LGlutamine and Colostrum (500mg 2x a day) to her regimen. 9/17/18 update: We are now going to the vet for a monthly B12-complex shot. I switched from Darwins Raw to Raw Paws Pet food, the main difference being Darwins including a good portion of their recipe with veggies, of one (or more?) that my girl was still showing sensitivities to. Raw Paws Pet food is available in a 'with veggies' recipe or just meat formula. She's now only eating about a pound of food a day (used to be 3!!!) and is 47 pounds! I do still give her a tablespoon of canned pumpkin, as well as this enzyme, and glucosamine. We've been doing this for about 8 months now.

FINALLY!!!!! Okay, this is a long story, so settle in. My cat is about 2 years old, but last August he started having diarrhea rather frequently. I took him to the vet a handful of times between then and now, and he kept losing weight until he was down to about 6.5 lbs (very undernourished for a cat -- his ribs and spine were very prominent, his fur was mangy, and he had very little energy). The vet had me try antibiotics twice, then a FortiFlora probiotic from Purina. He wanted to do a $300 test to see if my cat had EPI (a pancreatic disorder) but I'm very tight on funds. So he said he could potentially prescribe a pancreatic (animal-based) enzyme supplement for my cat. Only problem? It's like $50 a month, for the rest of his life -- so around $600 a year. Not really doable for a grad student making $11k a year for the next six years. But I was going to do it anyway. Except, when I called to schedule the appointment, I wound up catching the other vet and he suggested that I try this plant-based enzyme first because the animal-based was so expensive (and needed a prescription). I am so glad I did. Within a few weeks, my cat's stools were finally solid again. They've stopped smelling horrendously bad (a sign of bad digestion) and he's stopped losing water constantly. His fur is becoming shiny and soft again, and his mouth and gums are gaining back their color. He seems more alert and has been very playful and mischievous again, which is a huge relief to see. I sprinkle about a teaspoon of this for every 2 cups of cat hard food and that seems to be the right ratio. I combine this with blue buffalo's sensitive skin and stomach cat food (which is easier to digest) and my cat seems to do pretty well with digesting. He has gained back a little weight pretty rapidly (no more bones for the most part!) so I'm hoping that weight gain will continue. I'm guessing one bottle of this will probably last me two or three months at least. Only drawback is that he instantly gets diarrhea if he steals even a little bit of my roommate's cat's food (which isn't supplemented, obviously).

So I originally got this for one of my dogs that was 8 years old at the time of starting this that was very gassy and also burping a lot after putting this in her morning wet food after about a month she wasn’t gassy and barely burped anymore! Her stomach you don’t hear gurgling anymore as well! Still to this day I give it to her every morning and I also give it to my other 3 dogs that are seniors as well and I feel like it’s helped all of them with their poops! It’s just a white soft powder that you add to their food I add it to their morning wet foot that mixes right in. All of them seem to like the taste and since it’s powder dogs with tooth problems can have it no problem. I get the larger size of bottle and I give it to 4 dogs every morning and still only need to purchase it about every 5-6 months with giving the amount directed.

I purchased this product after researching potential causes for my dog's random & unexplainable intestinal issues (colitis, possible IBD) which started when Hills Prescription Diet reformulated their I/D canned food. A bland homemade diet of chicken & rice failed to resolve my pet's issues, and research suggested that amongst other things, adding probiotics to your pets diet *could* help. Wanting to exhaust natural remedies before moving onto expensive tests and medications, I decided to give it a shot. I chose AEPE&P because it contained a few additional ingredients that according to research, could also be beneficial. I started adding the recommended dose to my dog's kibble (and only kibble) during each meal (2x/day). Within 2 days she seemed constipated so I cut back to 1x/day. Within another 2 days, I knew I'd struck gold. My pooch went from a mopey, listless, every-other-poop-was-a-gelatinous-and-bloody-mess pet to an animated, perky, normal pooper pet! For the past few weeks I have added the powder to her kibble every morning and watched her eating like a hawk (just to make sure nothing snuck in her mouth to ruin the happy effects). She has totally turned a corner and I am ecstatic (and relieved)! She has more energy and seems much happier - she's actually playing by herself now (before she wouldn't unless someone played with her)!!! It's only been 3 weeks and so far not a single instance of diarrhea, and even her vomiting (which was mostly water anyway) isn't as frequent. And her poop...it's the normal, smelly, semi-solid, same-color-and-consistency-every-time kind now. Hooray! Bottom line, I am totally thrilled with this product and HIGHLY recommend it for someone who wants to supplement their pet's diet with probiotics. I realize I took a risk in self-diagnosing my dog and trying this product without discussing it with my vet first, but that's a separate issue. I just want to rave about the product because it's been such a lifesaver and it's made such a huge difference in my dog's overall health. I will use AEPE&P for the rest of her natural life!

I just got this & will review it more fully in a couple weeks. Problem: My dog had acute pancreatitis last spring & a vertibrae infection last summer ... he is on antibiotics, still, ... and I want him to have probiotics to enhance intestinal flora & digestive enzymes to help his pancreas. He's been doing very well on Jarrow Formulas Pet Dophilus Powder, 70.5g & Udo's Choice Pet Essentials/dog 16-Ounces - but I thought I'd give this single product a chance, and this company has been given good review by Dr. Pitcairn's New Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats I received the product & read on the back that it contains Aspergillus orzye and also Aspergillus niger; my first concern was aflatoxin ... so I called the company and the phone was picked up, quickly, by a human, a very nice lady who was extremely knowledgable and she explained some differences to me ... so I opened my mind ... then I went on the internet and found 2 articles that laid other concerns to rest (although I am always to hear other points of view) and I was able to give this to my dogs - I will post the 2 articles below. Have a good day! Wish us luck with a new product! the articles are too long to cut & paste ... I think it's safe, used in a non-fermented state, and I'll add it wet, not powder, to my dogs' food, so they don't breath it. May 2, 2012; I have been giving this to both my dogs, one teaspoon with lunch & lunch = Honest Kitchen Preference, Grain-Free Foundation Diet For Dogs, 3lb , oatmeal & yogurt; I feel this powder should be wet, when an animal eats it so they don't inhale it into their sinuses or aspirate the powder into their lungs. I read that some people have constipation issues; I have not, both dogs are having regular & normal bowel movements, but maybe giving them extra vegetables helps. Also walking is good for constipation. I only feed my dogs canned food. [....] [....]
