Amazing quality product, let down by one major flaw. Otherwise it would be a flawless 5-star product. I've been using the Heemburg flask every day at work for nearly two weeks and I have to say the build quality, materials, aesthetics etc are all 5-stars. I can't fault it at all. One of the things that really appealed to me are the very few nooks & crannies. In fact, every part of it is accessible which means that it's so easy to hand wash. What you'll find with a lot of food flasks are that they have tight gaps that you simply cannot get a brush into thus allowing the build-up of grime. This is not a problem with the Heemburg. No specialist brush required. Now, we need to discuss heat retention and there's no simple answer. It simply depends on how much you are able to tighten the lid. And this leads me to the major flaw in the design of the Heemburg... The design team have clearly put all their thought into the appearance and not a single thought into the practicality. In short, it is an absolute pain to open and close! Most food flasks (or any kind of flask for that matter) allow you to get your palm over the top of the lid which makes it easy enough to apply a decent amount of force. So opening and closing is not much of a problem. The Heemburg lid handle is very poorly designed. I would love to speak with the person who designed the handle and simply ask them... "Why? Why did you do it? Did you even try to open and close the prototype yourself?" The handle is too small for the size of the lid! The spread of the handle is so small relative to the diameter of the lid that a tremendous amount of "torque" is required to tighten/loosen it. The perfectly smooth exterior also means there isn't really anywhere to place your other hand. I don't want to risk holding the handly in case it breaks off. By simply extending the handle so that it is as wide as the diameter of the lid, you'd be able to increase the torque, thus making it easier to open and close the lid. So back to a crucial point, heat retention. This depends entirely on much you tighten the lid! If you tighten it like I did (I'm quite strong), then your food will easily stay hot for at least 4-5 hours. But be warned, I struggle to open the lid. Now, I imagine most people don't tighten it as much as I do, which can only mean they're getting heat retention of 3 hours, 4 at most. In a nutshell, the Heemburg is a love/hate product. If I tighten the lid significantly, I get an acceptable level of heat retention, but opening the lid is a nightmare. If I want to be able to open the lid with relative ease, then my food is luke warm by lunchtime! Very poorly designed handle, designed by a team who clearly didn't pay attention in science class.

Large enough to store enough food to feed three hungry adults or a family of four. The separate top container is useful for keeping rice/potatoes etc away from the main dish. Have already used it for a delicious chilli with rice and a chicken curry with a lentil dhal. Kept the food hot and ready to eat for the two hours it was in there. No leakage on the journey and withstood the knocks and bumps along the way with no damage.

Looks lovely. Kept a stew hot for at least three hours. That’s all I’ve tested it so far.

I bought it to keep cooked food and soups warm for my elderly mother recovering from a hip operation. I put some hot water in the flask until is ready for the cooked food to be poured into. I put hot cooked food and sometimes soups in the flask around 10 am and they remain hot for about 4 to 5 hours. By next morning they are still Lukewarm. This depends how often you open the flask for the food. There is a metal container inside the flask which is useful for cooked rice or pasta and can be kept hot by the soup inside the flask. I find this flask very useful that I bought a second one to alternate each day to take it to my mother. The flask is big enough for a 2 person meals. The most important thing is to pour hot water into the flask, close the lid and leave it until the cooked food is ready to replace the hot water. This helps the cooked food remaining hot for a longer period.

Keeps the food hot or cold over the night. I cooked a meal in the evening and it was still hot next day in the afternoon. All made of stainless steel, easy to clean and maintain. A handle is big. All in all a perfect product for my needs and a perfect solution during the hot summer when I want my food to remain cold and not to spoil.
