Here in the CA high desert we watch soil temperature closely in our garden and small orchard. (including different locations on our slopped 4 acres). We've used many different thermometers--nothing is better than Planteko's instrument. The Stainless Steel probe is excellent for our high pH soil and the 24" length makes it easy to move and check out various areas. We've had the occasion to talk with customer service. Very helpful and gracious to deal with. We not only recommend this unit, but plan to purchase two more. We know it is meant for "compost" use--we've expanded its application. Franklin

Received it when promised, and checking it with the other compost thermomiters I have, it is very accurate.

The thermometer was well packed and survived shipping in perfect condition. Although the thermometer is primarily for composting, we also use it to check soil temperature so that we know when to plant. We live in an area with a very short growing season so knowing when we can plant successfully makes the difference between a few veggies and a full crop. This thermometer is well made, easy to use and durable. We appreciate the long stem and large dial.

Since we are only to April here in the upper Midwest, my compost piles are still frozen. Arrived on time as indicated and well packaged. Tried inserting the thermometer into the piles (carefully) and thus determined that the piles were frozen. Did not damage the stainless steel probe (hurray). No Batteries Included as this does not require them...cannot beat simplicity. Reads interior home temperatures correctly so looking forward to putting into actual use.

Ive had many compost thermometers over the years, but they've all broken in a short time. This one has kept going even though being dropped on concrete several times. Easy to read. I use for my compost and for my worm bins. Would definitely buy again. Helpful guide on packaging.

I had an upside down day when I ordered this because I read reviews afterward. One reviewer complained that the stem was too thin and bent easily. That is not a problem any longer. The stem is now sturdy enough that you would have to purposely damage it. It is accurate too. I compared it to two other shorter stemmed models I have. This is a winner. You won't be disappointed.

Product is as described. Looking forward to a successful gardening season with the help of this product. Super long probe, can really get down into the compost. At this point I have nothing but positive to say about this product.
