OK, first off these are a fine replacement Filter cartridges for Honeywell (formerly North) respirators. Now for my do-gooder PSA to up my karma quota for the year. Organic cartridge respirators will filter out dust and particulates and also nasty vapors from paints, thinners, solvents, etc. However, there are two very important things to keep in mind when depending on these handy devices to save your lungs and brain cells. First, the respirator only works as well as you fit it. To test your fitment, put on the mask and cup your palms over the inlets on both cartridge openings; no air should be entering the mask...it should suck tight to your face. Yes, this means you have to shave that big a$$ ZZ Top beard for it to work. Second, the way these nifty little devices work is by active carbon in the cartridges that trap the nasty organic molecules you are inhaling. What most folks don't know is those carbon granules start absorbing as soon as you take them out of the plastic package. They will absorb any organic particles, good or bad. So, after 24 to 48 hours of being exposed, they are useless. The key is to keep your mask in a zip-lock bag when not in use. That keeps the active carbon form getting "used up" and ready to go when time comes to protect yourself. So, if you can "taste" or smell the solvent, your cartridges are shot. These masks will keep you safe from sinister vapors that REALLY will shorten your life, give you cancer, damage your brain, etc if you use them properly. Why should you listen you my advice? I was a service manager of a body shop in a previous life chasing around a bunch of guys trying to keep good masks on their faces. An no, I don't work for Honeywell. Be safe out there!

It works good. My only question was, 'why wasn't this item as part of the sale? What good is the mask without this item? I was wearing the mask without the filters (not knowing that I needed them.)

Fit and function was as expected.

Great for Coroner work! Buy these if you have to deal with Decomp more than once a month. Combine this with some HD Tyvek suits, and you'll never smell, or smell of Decomp again!!
