India And Asian Geopolitics: The Past, P

An Excellent Book on India's role in Asia and the World
The author's understanding of the complex world of games nations play and his ability to present it to the reader in a lucid style is wonderful. It provides some sane advice to India's policy-makers about the best pissible course India should take to build its internal strength, without trying to assume any impractical international role, not commensurate with its real strength. Indian leadership would do well to heed the author's advice to follow such domestic polucies as would consoludate rather than fragment the Indian society on religious and other avoudable faultlines.

Detailed, Composite and Strategic analysis of Indian Geopolitics.
It's one of the good books that brings out even the minor details and connects it to larger picture and it's future consequences related to the Indian foreign policy. It's a must read for those who want to gain a better understanding of the India' image in the world and how it has transformed since independence. It's written by an expert in the field with decades of experience and who has seen and done the strategic manoeuvring from the close quarters.Civil Services aspirants will definitely benefit from this.

The book is written combining history and analysis.
The book is well written seeing foreign policy through history.Be it India's mis steps in Indo China war or early success in managing third world ,the book analysis without any great theories.Although it is not as crisp as Shiv Shankar menon's earlier book Choices, the book is still a delightful read.

Amazing read in the Geopolitics Genre
The book is definitely an amazing read. This piece coming from Amb Shivshankar Menon discusses the geopolitics mainly of Asia with a frequent mention of Indian context. One needs to have a basic orientation with the term Geopolitics and basic knowledge of past events would be very helpful while going through the book.

Hard covers hardly come Intact
I have no qualms regarding the content of the book! Have finished the first 2 chapters as of yet. like everyone else mentioned... certain page numbers are blank (probably have maps in the kindle version).I didn't like the fact that the paper cover over the hardbound was folded and slightly torn along the sides. It doesn't feel good to have a new premium book with such draw backs!Btw a 10/10 recommendation for anyone into geopolitics.
