What is the dusty residue that is pouring out of the snake? It's not sand, so what is it? I hope no chemicals! is it safe around children and pets ?

I am not sure what the dust could be but you are probably going to have to contact the company personally to find out if it is harmful or safe. Ask for a replacement or refund if you can. I'm not sure why there is anything spilling from your water snake.

This seems to have a different seller. So what are the dimensions of the regular and large size snakes?

Will water pass through it to other side once its completely saturated with water?

I haven’t had any water leak into it. So I’m not sure with this one. But a different brand I had when it got saturated it did get to the other side. So I’m assuming it will happen with this one too.

Can you? Sure! Should you? No! You can rinse it to get off dust and some dirt... But rinsing soap out of these things would be really difficult since they are so absorbent. I have swished mine around in the bathtub and ran water through it to clean it up... Just be aware that it will be waterlogged afterwards and you will need to let to dry... I hung mine over the faucet to let it drain and then stuck it out in the sun. Once dry, it was as good as new (and maybe a little less dusty?).
