Mezcal and Tequila cocktails by Emanuelle Mensah Published in 2021, the book consists of 255 pages. The theme of this book, as the title mentions, is all about Mezcal and Tequila cocktails It is a gorgeous edition with a very nice sturdy cover, thick paper with rounded corners and very nice photos But the book contains much more than just cocktail recipes. It takes you to its origins in history, how it is harvested, fermentation, distillation, production to bottling for both Mezcal and Tequila It also explains the difference of the Tquila categories : silver, joven and gold. It also literally talks about the different agave plants. A special chapter tells you all about how best to drink Mezcal, pure, shots, sangrita, cocktails ... Gusano del maguey ... or in other words the worm that is (supposedly) in the drink. There is also an introduction to which glasses are best to use, which equipment is best and which techniques are used but I have to admit that the glass chapter in particular is very comprehensive. This is followed by cocktail recipes subdivided : Brunch and lunch Afternoon tea Aperitif Dinner Digestif Nightcap And finally homemade cocktail ingredients Especially the last chapter with the homemade cocktail ingredients is amazing. Make your own tinctures, sugars, biscuits, foam, ice, infusions, syrups, ... Too many to mention. Also, in addition to a wide variety of different alcoholic bottles, lots of fruit and fruit juices are used. Therefore, I have to conclude that this book is not really suitable for the novice bartender, but rather for someone who already has some experience and already has an extensive bar. Overall, I think this is an excellent book by this author and other editions are already on my want to read list.

Recipes look lovely, although the book it has much more of a metallic look than I was expecting. However it showed up with a big scratch spanning the entire width of the book. It was safely inside an undamaged box and bubble wrap meaning it was sent this way. Quality control is lacking. Since you have to have an adult present at the door to return the item via pickup it’s not really worth the hassle to have a new one sent. Wish there was an option to request a discount.
