Warm, expressive overdrive with premium tone and versatile voicing
The Boss BD-2W Blues Driver Waza Craft Special Edition is an excellent evolution of the classic BD-2 — it brings the beloved warm, amp-like overdrive feel of the original while adding refinement, responsiveness, and extra tonal flexibility. Tone & performance The pedal delivers rich, dynamic overdrive that reacts beautifully to your picking attack and guitar volume — lighter picking stays clean or just gently driven, while digging in brings out harmonic richness and sustain. That touch sensitivity gives it an “amp-in-a-box” feel that many players seek in an overdrive. It’s perfect if you want that creamy breakup for blues, classic rock, or expressive lead work, but it won’t give you thick high-gain distortion like a high-gain distortion pedal — it’s designed to preserve nuance and feel. Standard vs Custom Modes One of the big upgrades in the Waza Craft version is the two sound modes: • Standard Mode — captures the classic BD-2 character with familiar warmth and drive. • Custom Mode — opens up a slightly expanded range of body and sustain, adding a bit more low-end and depth without sounding muddy. This switch is genuinely useful, giving you extra tonal options from the same pedal, whether you want classic blues grit or a bit more growl and sustain for rockier parts. Controls & usability With just Level, Gain, and Tone controls, it’s easy to dial in tones quickly — from a subtle edge-of-breakup to a fuller, driven sound. The tone control shapes treble nicely but isn’t as broad as a full EQ — if you need heavy shaping you might pair this with an EQ pedal afterward. Build quality is typical Boss — rugged, road-worthy, and reliable — with a premium feel and attention to detail that fits its Waza Craft flagship positioning. Versatility & use cases Although it’s called a “Blues Driver,” the BD-2W is versatile. Players report it works beautifully as a clean boost, rhythmic OD, and expressive lead drive across blues, rock, and beyond. It’s not limited to one genre. Having the dynamic response means you can use your guitar’s volume knob to clean up the tone, making it great for players who like interacting with their instrument rather than just smashing a gain pedal. A few considerations • The tone control isn’t super powerful — it’s mainly there to tame highs or add brightness rather than sculpt mids deeply. • At max gain, the pedal can get a bit loose in the low end or noisy depending on your amp/rig, so pairing it with proper amp settings helps. Summary The Boss BD-2W Waza Craft Blues Driver is a compelling upgrade on a classic. It offers touch-sensitive, amp-like overdrive, flexible voicing with Standard/Custom modes, and premium analog circuitry — all in a rugged pedalboard-ready box. Whether you’re chasing warm blues breakup or expressive rock tones, it’s a highly musical and versatile choice.

Keywords: Subtle, Chorus-ish
Disclaimer: I've only used this pedal in mono. The boss enclosure/build needs no review. It's timeless and bomb proof. Now that that's out of the way... I will start by saying I really enjoy this pedal. It adds something unique to my arsenal and, most importantly, sounds cool. That said, I could see a lot of people being underwhelmed with it. Why? Two reasons: 1) Intensity. What it does is very subtle. It goes from flanger-y to chorus-y if you follow the buttons from left to right. Each step up adds a bit of depth/intensity and lag into the mix. The switch between standard and SDD-320 is, again, very subtle as well. To me it sounds like it tilts the EQ toward a bass-ier, mellower sound compared to the standard mode. 2) Price. MSRP is $220. It's Waza, it's analog, I get it- but that price can sting considering how subtle the effect is. The value of a sound effect is ultimately up to the user, but anyone buying this with the expectation of being floored by lush waves of chorus should check their expectations. The modulation sounds it does produce are pure analog goodness, they just aren't going to make anyone seasick. PS) I saw a few claims around the internet that the DC-2w is "chorus without the movement" and I don't really agree with that. The movement is there, it's just lessened by the presence of a second modulated waveform that works to cancel out some intensity in the first one. Put a drive/distortion in front of it and you'll hear the motion. If you're looking for a stereo pedal with truly no motion, look for a double tracker pedal. Overall, very satisfied with it. Glad I bought it.

A Pedal Board MUST!
Top 10 all time BOSS pedal! No this is NOT a chorus pedal. Sure it kinda sounds like a chorus pedal. But it does not modulate / waver, there for it is not a chorus pedal. But it does give that silky 80’s tone that you dream of. It’s an almost always on and my style isn’t even anything where I’d generally want that 80’s sound. It adds such a soothing layer to everything. If you have a chorus pedal and it just isn’t cutting it…. Keep it and ADD this to it. If you want mega 80’s add a chorus to this. This paired with a standard chorus will give you that Prince sound if desired. The fact they fit the Dimension in such a small package is crazy. If I had just 10 pedals to keep for ever This is one of them.

Is it another Chorus pedal or something else? Who cares! it sounds really good.
The DC-2W Waza Craft pedal gives you some really classic 80’s Chorus flavors that it’s hard not to like it once you try it. Certainly not every players “always on” effect but it does offer amazing modulation that replicates vintage Roland studio rack effects. Yes it’s only buttons and you might be saying that you like to tweak the knobs of your chorus pedal, however I can confirm that if you A/B your tweaked Chorus setting of choice you’ll find it on the Dimension C. Certainly worth adding to your pedal collection.
