This is hilarious and touching
I ordered the second book the minute I finished the first. Last night reading in bed I came across this passage and almost wet my pants.(Amy's work is getting some limelight and she is invited on a radio show with a right-wing host who knows nothing about her or her books. At the very end she invents a literary arm of the government handing out grants, and manages to say --)"Meaning that no matter who's in charge, regardless of prevailing political winds, regardless, let's face it, of the will of the people" (air quotes with an air of mused scorn) "we can keep churning out arty-farty ivory-tower left-wing anti-gun ACLU tree-hugging lesbian atheist fetus-hating garbage, and you can keep paying for it."Takes a while for the host to realize he's been had. That speech had me laughing so hard I almost wet my pants. Have decided the best means of fighting virus-boredom is HUMOR.

The result for the reader is a terrific ride with an interesting woman whose character alters in ...
Sequel to The Writing Class, this novel stands alone very well. Amy, the protagonist, has thought about words and language and writing for most of her life and, after a minor head injury, loses the barriers that she has mentally erected to hold society at bay. Her unfiltered remarks make her a very minor celebrity. Her experiences reopen her interest in writing short stories. The result for the reader is a terrific ride with an interesting woman whose character alters in response to her experience, just as the people around her also grow and change.

Refreshing!
Although the character of Amy is unconventional, the author convinced me that it was quite okay to love her and laugh along with her various accident-causing situations. Her relationship with her dog is warm and loving while her relationships with the people in her life fits more in the tolerance category. I enjoyed the book for it's fresh approach to plot, character, and lack of stereotype.

Selber lesen macht fett
Ich wünschte, ich hätte “Amy Falls Down“ schon früher gelesen. Das hätte mir viel Zeit und den Konsum einer Menge Schrott erspart. Und einen Hund hätte ich jetzt auch, endlich.

I like Jincey Willett
I read and write for a living. Please don't make me work for a book I bought for pleasure. Thanks
