Good microscope - perfect for assembly and PWB rework
I really like this microscope. Before, I'd struggle reworking a circuit board, having difficulty seeing in enough detail to perform the required work. Now it is easy. I installed the 0.5X Barlow lens to increase the working distance. This allows enough room to get soldering irons, or xacto blades into where you need them. With the 144 LED light attachment there is more than enough light to see the finest details, even at the highest magnification. The counter balanced boom is easy to use and allows some pretty impressive reach on one's work bench. When not in use, I just rotate the microscope out of the way. This is an enabling piece of hardware. Highly recommended.

Great scope for Surface Mount electronics troubleshooting.
(I don't know what "sheerness" and "thickness" means but I gave 'em a 5 anyway.) OK This scope has been extremely useful for working on electronics as well as just looking at whatever up close. Even without the users manual I figured out how to set it up and use it just fine. It's changed that way I troubleshoot electronics, and also the way I solder SMD parts. If you are an electronics person and are working with SMD I highly recommend this scope.

Who's brand is this, anyway?
So, the two biggest complaints I have are: 1. The packaging reveals only in one tiny spot, the "brand" of the unit, and it's AmScope. The brand is literally stamped on with an ink stamp! It is not reassuring. 2. The instruction manual was not only for the wrong model scope, NO WHERE in the manual is AmScope mentioned! Also, the manual has typical foreign-to-English translation errors, misspellings and overall, a very unprofessional look. So, in the end I had to rely on the photos in the Amazon listing to assemble my kit. First, I tried without reading a manual and got two parts backwards or upside-down... It didn't take long to fix once I saw photos. I bought a knock-off 0.5 Barlow lens (I mean, the rest of the kit appears "knock-off", so what the heck, right? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07LB11DK2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The magnification out of the box is much too powerful for SMD soldering work, so do yourself a huge favor and get a 0.5x reduction lens... this is not AmScope's fault, however. I also bought a ring light. Many users suggested an alternate version than the more expensive one that is offered as an option. This works very nicely, perfect for my needs. Obviously they can print "CanScope" for Canada, right? It's obvious this stuff is from China and the manufacturer rebrands it for the world. If they could put some more effort into making us feel like we bought the right product, this review would be perfect. Now, here are the good parts: 1. The scope is durable. However, The only point of failure that I see is the rear height stem. You have simple set-screw mechanics and gravity to keep the boom at one level. Over time, I see divots being developed if you change the height often, or are using too much force (you don't need a lot). A gear mechanism, like on the focus racking unit, would have been a QUALITY improvement. I am going to inquire if I can order another rear stem as a backup. My OCD, LOL. 2. Using the scope does reveal a level of accuracy and quality improvement over all the cheaper ones on the market, especially the ones with 720p LCD screens fixed on from the factory. There is zero-lag with your eyes, and you have ample room to work on the piece below. 3. You can add a camera to this unit. It is a "Simul-Focal" model. If you don't plan to upgrade to a camera, then a "stereo" microscope is cheaper and works exactly the same, without built-in camera mount and reflection mirror. I definitely plan to add a camera at some point. 4. The pan, tilt and position mechanisms are all smooth as butter. 5. The scope is pretty solid and I find that if I tighten things a little, the optics barely move then I put my eyeglasses (I wear progressive bifocals, BTW) to the eye cups. 6. I happened to get mine on some special deal, 15% off or something. That was another plus. Go to the AmScope store on Amazon, you may find deals. 7. You get a dust cover with the unit... USE IT! Conclusion: If you are going to do circuit board surface-mount re-work... this scope can't be beat for the price. I found a split circuit trace with this unit that I never would have spotted with my "5x" lighted magnifier. Adding the tiniest wire to repair the board was also almost easy, with help from this unit! I am delighted to have precisely cut, affixed, fluxed and soldered the new trace wire, all while under the scope. Time will tell if this unit lives up to it's purchase price. I have a feeling it will last many years if I treat it right and cover it when not in use. I recommend this unit.

An excellent versatile microscope with a large work area
The base is *very* substantial and the whole build is very sturdy. The range of focus and zoom is good, and the image is clear and crisp. The LED light ring is essential. I would have liked a small cover just for the optics rather than the whole scope. It really needs a guide to putting the parts together (pictures on Amazon were a very good start!)

Is NOT an AmScope microscope
It happened to me, as I saw it happened to some people else here in the reviews. No AmScope logo anyplace, not in the product, not in the manual, and not even in the boxes; and that is because is not an AmScope but a SZM7045-STL1 (SZMN Series). So wheter the offer is a scam, the stocking cataloger has done wrong, or the dispatcher is mixing things to his/her will. My thing is that even the quality is not bad and it is a trinoscope with a perfect base and supports, this is not what I paid for, and the one I got is somewhat $200 cheaper. The zoom mechanism has debris (like sand) inside and makes noise as it operates.

Your eyes may be good, but not this good!
I had a hard time getting used to it but it only took a couple of hours to get it adjusted to where I could use it comfortably but once I got it man oh man! I found two blown components that I could not physically see with the naked eye! Even after I found it under the microscope! I am unable to share any pictures because I haven't got the money to purchase the camera yet. JUST BUY THIS THING! Very good quality in my personal opinion!

So to start off I got sent the trinocular head instead of the simulfocal, I contacted amscope and they send me the right one (and I didn’t even have to send the other head back!). Amazing customer support. I love how easy it slides back and forth on its rails, fairly easy to roll it back and forth, seems very heavy and very solid, good quality. The one and only thing I’ve found not so good is when I put my eyes up to the lenses I’m unable to lean onto the lenses or even touch them with my eyebrows, I have to back off like half an inch in order to get the full lens into focus, for someone with glasses it’d probly be perfect, but for me I’d like to go all the way to the lenses and block out as much light from beside me as possible. Still totally worth buying! (The pictures I’ve posted are only taken through the eyepiece with my iPhone, since I don’t have a camera for the microscope yet…)

Maravilla de microscopio de calidad recomendado 100% para joyeros, engastadores..
Una maravilla de microscopio. Lo cierto es que es el primero q utilizo. He mirado por otros microscopios para ver piedras naturales, de gemólogo, vamos. No es comparable porque segun para el uso que se le da, necesitas uno u otro. Estudie" mucho antes ee decidirme, no queria equivocarme. Lo queria para joyeria. Engastar piedras, grabar con buril..esto es ver muy ampliado y con distancia suficiente para poder trabajar con herramientas. Tras un par de correos a la marca, reseñas de amazon y varios videos de youtube que agradezco inmensamente, pq gracias a uno de ellos, se aclaran dudas sobre las lentes y las distancias de trabajo. Me decidí por un trinocular pq en el futuro puedo necesitar ver o grabar o fotografiar lo q hago. Hay modelos con camara pero todo encarece y ahora necesitaba lo importante y básico pero de calidad para empezar. Tambien es importante que sea similfocal y esto, es muy importante. Generalmente o muy habitualmente los microscopios trinoculares (perdon, trinocular es un microscopio que ademas tiene otro ocular para una cámara, osea tri") oara conectar la camara deben dar a un boton que cambia el visor izquierdo por el visor de la camara y esto, la verdad es un rollo. Preferí invertir un poco más elegiendo similfocal que significavque puedes ver por ambos ojos y usar la cámara a la vez. Luego, explicaros aqui los aumentos es complicado, pero lo mas importante es que TODOS LOS MICROSCOPIOS TIENEN LOS MISMOS AUMENTOS DE BASE. LO QUE DA MAS AUMENTO O VAROA DISTANCIAS SON LAS LENTES. Esto es lo q mas flipada me dejo, pq yo tenia miedo de elegir uno u otro pq la variedad de precios es muy alta. Lo importante es saber que necesitas. Los oculares que trae este modelo son 10x20 son los que traen todos en general. Ojo hablo de AMSCOPE los otros no sé. Yo elegi esra marca por la calidad de las lentes, segun opiniones tienen poco o nada q envidiar a grandes marcas muy caras. Cuando ves q otros micriscopios cuestan 5000 euros, piensas q este será una porqueria, pero parece q no, por gente q se dedica a compararlos. Yo he visto videos de joyeros con estas marcas de 4000 euros y tienen menos distancia de rrabajo q yo con este de unos 600 xon los extras q compré. Bueno, sigo con los oculares. 10x20 en oculares significan 10 aumentos por 20 de "ancho" que puedo ver. El microscipio ya trae un zoom digamos y luego estan las lentes llamadas Barlow. Estas lentes hacen que tu "zoom" aumente o disminuya, pero cuanto más aumentos, mas cerca está lo que ves y dejas de teber distancia de trabajo. Los que necesitamos distancia para usar herramientas debemos tener menos zoom. El microscopio de base tiene hasta 45x osea 45 aumentos. De ahi añadimos lente Barlow para aumentar o restar este aumento. Q yo sepa, hay Barlow de 2x, de 0,7x y de 0,5x Este aumento se multiplica por los 45 q ya tiene de base el microscopio. Es decir, 45 mas la lente Barlow de 2x, nos daria 90x o 90 aumentos, pero la distancia para trabajo seria de 10cm. Otra opcion 45 mas la lente 0,7x nos daria 31,5 aumentos, y aumentaria la dustancia de trabajo. Y otra opcion, la que yo elegí 45 con lente Barlow de 0,5 nos da 22,5 aumentos y unos 16 a 18 cm de distancia de trabajo. Pero entonces pensé...ostras igual es poco aumento...y entonces vi otro video y era posible mantener esta distancia de trabajo y aumentar los aumentos o zoom con otros oculares. Los oculares q hable al principio 10x20 (tengo duda ahora si es 10x30 pero 30 es la zona en diametro q puedes enfocar o ver por el ocular) son los q llevan en general todos los microscopios, ahi ya tienes tus 10 aumentos y 20 es diametro que enfocas. Pero hay otros oculares que son 20x10 con lo que ahi tienes 20 aumentos, a costa de reducir el diámetro de lo que ves. Estos oculares, me devuelven mis 45 aumentos porque multiplico 20x45x0,5 (20 del ocular, 45 q tengo en el microscopio y 0,5 de la lente barlow) total 45 aumentos de nuevo, sin renunciar a mis 16 o 18 cm para trabajar. Tebeiscque pensar para qué quereis el microscopio, qué vais a hacer con él, qué voy a ver...y asi elegir unas lentes y oculares u otros. Direis, ostras pero solo ves 10mm de lo que enfocas..en joyeria, 10mm es una brutalidad. Imaginar engastar, osea poner una piedra de 1mm que lleva 4 bolitas pequeñas imaginad el tamaño, q sujetan un poquito la piedra quiza la bola sea de 0,02 milímetros y eso es muy pequeño. Al mismo tiempo necesito usar herramientas, asi que esta configuración es perfecta para mi. En Amscope Reino unido, puedes configurar completamente lo que necesitas. En Amscope Europa no. Por eso has de pensar mas. Luego las bases tambien hay que elegirlas, hay base fija solo sube y baja el microscopio, hay base de 3 movimientos, sube y vajo, se acerca o aleja y se gira 360 grados. Esta necesitaba yo para poder moverla según mis necesidades y apartarla fuera del banco cuando no lo use. He de decir que la base pesa un montón para que no vuelque por el peso del microscopio. El material es de calidad solo es plástico las ruedas para girar. Y habia un modelo pero no estaba disponible, tenia q esperar y habia una oferta en amazon q no sabia si se acabaria, descontando un cupon al comprar. Creo q aun está, pero bueno, no lo sabia, es el modelo articulado, pero creo que será menos fiable" q este, pues este su base, pesa seguro mas de 10 kg y el articulado, va con un tornillo agarrado a la mesa de trabajo, nada q ver creo yo. Falla ese tornillo y la pifias pero bien. Espero aclararle a alguien las dudas, q pueda tener. Y lo siento por la extensión pero esto es un resumen de horas y semanas buscando información y todo es muy importante. RECORDAR QUE ESTE MICROSCOPIO NO TRAE LENTES BARLOW NI JUEGO DE LUZ que recomiendo de 144 leds. Todo esto mas los oculares, los elegi aparte. Llegó todo junto, bien embalado, es verdad q sin pegatina de marca pero la caja viene directamente de Amscope, no tengo ninguna duda, En total con los oculares extra de 20x10 creo q me ha costado unos 650 euros aprox. Un pack completo y de calidad top. Saludos

Paragone con optika
Come da titolo, paragonerò questo microscopio all optika slx 5 che uso tutti i giorni a scuola (corso di incastonatura) per non meno di 3 ore facendone altrettante in laboratorio (orafo incastonatore) con questo Amscope da ormai 2 mesi. CONSEGNA Arrivato nei tempi previsti in un cartone anonimo senza alcun logo nè sullo scatolo che sul microscopio tranne uno sulla base del piede STRUTTURA La struttura si presenta solida e ben assemblate anche se i cuscinetti utilizzati non sono della migliore qualità, da controllare il serraggio dei grani che fermano le manopole dello zoom e della regolazione dell altezza per la messa a fuoco ma niente piu di cosi. Paragonato all optika si nota qualche differenza nella qualità dei materiali ma il difetto dei cuscinetti è praticamente uguale. Rapporto qualità/prezzo Amscope è superiore. CORPO OTTICO Il corpo ottico è ben assemblato, non fa rumori durante il cambio zoom, come l optika, ma il campo di messa a fuoco è migliore nell' Amscope poichè si ha una maggiore possibilità di movimento, 8-9mm senza perdere messa a fuoco mentre nell' optika con un movimento di circa 3-4 mm si perde completamente la messa a fuoco. QUALITÀ DI IMMAGINE Dopo circa due mesi di utilizzo non sono riuscito a notare una differenza di qualità degna di nota, cosa che va a favore dell' Amscope che dimostra un rapporto qualità/prezzo migliore. CONCLUSIONI Se dovessi prendere un altro microscopio di questa fascia non ci penserei due volte a comprarlo nuovamente, è arrivato in tempi brevi e ben imballato.
