Q: I'm a little concerned at the toxic smell when using this. What has your experience been with this and do you think it's safe to use ?

My mom is very sensitive to chemicals, especially their smells. She gets sick easily from cleaning products. I haven't smelled this product for myself, as I just order it for her, but she swears by it and says it's the only thing she's used on her tub that was strong enough to get the jets truly clean, removing any mold that might lurk (another thing that makes her sick big time) without leaving her sick from fumes. So at least in our experience, the smell seems way more toxic than it actually is. Or possibly it's coming from a reaction with something gross it's removing from the pipes in your tub. Either that or you got a bad batch? All I know is, Mom with her super-sniffer swears by it and won't use anything else anymore.

Q: Is this used only when changing the water?

Yes! Just before you change your water, run a dose (amount depends on size of spa) through the filter with all jets running. Then empty and clean the spa, before adding water.

Yes. It is safe for septic systems.

Q: Can I use this in a 600 gallon hot tub with a vinyl liner? Will it damage the liner?

It is also for use in a hot tub, and there are no warnings on it not to use on a vinyl liner. We love this stuff. And it is not gritty at all.
