K9 and Company
Was a good book, only downside was the spacing on some of the paragraph were not correctly spaced. But over all a good book for Dr Who fans

Story good, typeface horrid.
Downloaded the sample. This is appalingly laid out. Badly spaced, incomplete sentences, it's as if the publisher did this while drunk. It's horrible.

Pedestrian novelisation
This is the novelisation of the first Doctor Who spin-off. Despite decent ratings it is easy to see why `K9 and Company' never became a series. Likewise, it doesn't really offer the author much to work with. He chooses to go with a very straight forward account of the events of the programme. It makes the novel very pedestrian and monotonous. There is little effort to engage or excite the reader and the text lacks life. The few added elements, mainly in the little tweaks to Sarah Jane's character, don't really work and feel out of place. If you weren't familiar with the characters of K9 and Sarah Jane Smith you are unlikely to be endeared to them by this novel. They are presented in a very basic form. The subsidiary characters are also a little too similar at times. There is an effort to give Brendan a bit more personality. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't.The novel does what it is supposed to do though. It is a loyal retelling. This is probably only a book for die hard Doctor Who or K9 fans though as there is little to interest the average reader.
