Would this be easy for my 5 year old to open at school?

It does get looser and a little easier to open over time. My 2.5 year old couldn’t open it when we first got it, and now at almost 5, it’s much easier.

SoCalMom, The Bento containers are 6"x8". They will fit in a LunchBots Felt lunch bag on their side. To lay them flat, look for a lunch bag that measures at least 6"x8"

Is the large compartment big enough to fit a sandwich?

Not quite. But if its cut and stuffed in there it works. I still like it because it fits in the lunch box. I ordered the four compartment one as well for snacks.

Will one of those small individually packaged guacamole or hummus fit into one of the smalller compartments? thanks!
