These are super light, super stretchy, and super comfortable. The pockets are off to the side and not in the front like most shorts. This keeps air flow to your quads. I have not run with anything in the side pockets…but I have had gu or keys in the back zippered and didn’t even know they were there. The only way they could be improved was maybe a slit or v or something on the side of the leg and making them in Red or White….once they do I’m ordering both.I do trail runs, hyrox and deka in these. They are my competition shorts, won’t wear any other shorts for events. For sizing I’m 5’8” stocky 190lbs and got large. The med was fine, but the large was more comfortable for my larger quads.

Lightweight and comfortable. Easy to wash and stays like new. Fit as expected, not too loose or baggy.

This is an updated review, removing a star. The first pair of these I purchased were the light gray color. They are amazing. They deserve 6 stars. I loved them so much that a couple of months later I ordered a pair in the dark gray in the same size. When the new pair arrived, they were huge. The fabric felt more plastic like than super silky and lightweight like the first pair. I returned them and ordered the same a size smaller. This time the sizing worked much better, but why make me guess on my size? Weird. The fabric is still quite inferior to the light gray pair I first got. Its not bad, just not mind bogglingly great. Not as breathable, but still respectable. I still love the pockets and the overall design, and they are still my favorite running shorts - but the inconsistent sizing and fabric quality have left a big mark on my enthusiasm about the brand. Initially I was thinking I would get some shirts from them as well, but now I'm not so sure. Sad. Below is my original review for the light gray pair, so you can see just how enthusiastic I am about that pair. I sure do wish these things were consistent. TLRun - please please please make these shorts the right size, and go back to the amazing fabric. Honestly I dont know if there is a difference between the different colors, but I'm not spending my money just to find out.--These feel like premium running shorts, but the cost is great. I seriously want to get several more pairs of these so I can do all of my runs in these. They perform better than shorts that cost many times more. When I took them out of the package the first thing out of my mouth was, "oh wow, these are light!" They are incredibly lightweight and very breathable, but the fabric seems like it will hold up extremely well. The waistband is comfortable (finally!), and the length is perfect. I am normally a size large in running shorts, so that's what I ordered for these and that was a good choice. ALL running shorts bunch up between my thighs when I'm running, but when these did it I didn't even realize it. I didn't notice until I looked down to see if they had bunched up. No chafing or irritation over my long run. The pockets are brilliant. I especially love that I can put my gigantic phone in a side pocket and though it bounces around a little, it doesn't bother me a bit. I have zero concerns about my phone coming out of the pocket.These shorts help me stay cooler, they're very comfortable, they're mind bogglingly lightweight, they look good, and the price is great. I need more.

Comfortable shorts. I run miles a week in them. Good price. Other brands priced way higher.

My husband is very picky about his running gear. These were breathable, lightweight, the perfect length and had the right size secure pocket for his phone. Will be purchasing another pair.

I usually wear mediums and ordered these in medium also. The waistband is initially tighter than others but super comfy with the inside flat instead of bunched material like others. These fit me like a glove within absolutely no leg drag. Four of the pockets are so invisible and weightless that I thought they had sent the wrong style until I found them! I have some Own the Run 5” with the brief liners cut out, but these TLRs are 7 grams lighter with 5 pockets vs 2 on the OTRs. Somebody engineered the heck out of these shorts, or copied design from some professional gear that I’ve never seen.

The zipper head hurts when sitting or falling on it, use a smaller zipper head and put a string on it to reach it. or a fabric fold lip. My zipper heads have been removed. Also consider that a pocket large enough for a key which does not weigh much may be better placed on the hip as hip motion is minimal compared to the constant tap on the small of the back. Maybe a narrow tall pocket the length of a key with a fabric flap at the top?

I have a number of high-end running shorts from name brands and these have some of the best pocket layouts I've seen.Phone pocket at back is perfect. Side pockets are excellent design for nutrition and your key.No hand pockets.I think they run small because in other shorts I can wear medium or large. I bought these in large and they are almost snug; they fit but I could have worn an XL too.I take a star off though because the material doesn't dry as fast as I like. I'm a heavy sweater and it takes a little to long to get dry.This is one of the best pairs of shorts I have found.

I ordered a pair of the Energy Sea running shorts and was so impressed with them I ordered another pair a week later. The fit is perfect, the material is nice and light, and the pocket design is great - there's no need to worry about anything bouncing out of them while running, be it your cell phone or anything smaller. Also, in a world of overpriced athletic gear the price on these is easily affordable

Just wore these on two sections of the West Highland Way where I was out for around 8 hours at a time and these were very comfy with no chafing etc. good pockets also.Probably buy another pair as they are a great fit and totally value for money.

Excellent product - fit perfectly, and can easily be adjusted. Quick drying. Durable - after a few months of using 3 to 4 times a week, color and form are the same as the first use. Most importantly for runners, these are light and soft, with no chaffing! Lining works very well, so no need for additional undergarments. Overall, great product that has exceeded my expectations and represents outstanding value for the price.
