I'm back into bread making using a bread maker. My family likes nicely sliced bread, and an electric knife is perfect for that task. I had an old electric knife that I really liked, but it has gone missing. Sadly, the new electric knives are of lesser quality. I initially bought a very inexpensive one that did work; however, I felt that the blades were too flexible, so I thought I would invest in a much more expensive electric knife, this one. I was impressed by the design that made it almost look like a hand mixer. The cost made me think that it would be of much higher quality and have a more powerful motor than the cheap one that I tried. However, I have to say that I'm disappointed. The larger body size and separate handle make it more awkward to hold, and I really don't like the safety feature of having to hold down two opposing switches to get it to work. My hand starts to hurt because of it. It comes with two blades, and the product page notes that one is for meat and the other is for bread, suggesting that they are somehow different. They are not. The knife does cut my bread, but the cheap one that I bought actually did a better job. If I push this knife, it starts to emit a slight metal burning smell. Honestly, it is easier to use my 10" bread knife. I'm only using this knife for bread, so I'm unable to comment on how it would work on a roast or a turkey. However, I was expecting more as this knife was fairly expensive, certainly more expensive than some other offerings on Amazon. Your mileage may vary.
