Smart Baking Company Smartbuns, Gluten Free, Sugar Free and Carb Free Buns (24 Count Sesame)

I've been on Keto for so long that when I came across these buns I was extremely skeptical. On the great KETO lifestyle, whenever I see a 'low carb' or 'zero carb' item I always say to myself "ok what's the catch?" Usually when an item is low/zero carb it either taste horrible, isn't filling, or is using so many chemicals that it might as well not be considered food anymore. So I ordered these buns seeing that the ingredients we're straight forward so there might be hope for them. Tried them and am very pleased to say they taste just like a normal bun (which is exactly what you want) and are still zero carbs to not effect your KETO. I ate them everyday on KETO and I always teste my urine with KETONE strips to see if food is effecting my state of ketosis, and am excited to say these are the real deal as to not pull you out of keto. I didn't have any digestive issues at all so glad that wasn''t an issue. I might have took a star off due to the 38$ price tags for 24 buns, but thinking about it logically, if you go to a normal place to get a burger or even a place like Arby's for a sandwich your paying 3-5$ for a burger/sandwich. These are essentially $1.55 if they sold them individually, so if you take for example a roast beef with chedder on bun at Arby's for 5-7$, broken down its like 3-4$ for the meat, 50cent to 1$ for the cheese and 1$ for the bun. With that in mind these are actually fairly priced. I will be ordering another batch of these again as you will not find a better KETO bun on the market and especially not at the store in present day.

Happy to add this product to our Keto lifestyle, it's a nice change from having to make chaffles as a hamburger bun replacement. Must be kept in the freezer upon receiving but thaw just fine when needed, not mushy. The four-star review is given because the texture is a little crumbly but still holds up pretty well. We toast the bun before adding condiments and the burger. Another reason for the 4-star review is that the buns are pre-sliced but not all sliced equally, some bun tops are too thin and those tend to fall apart more frequently during eating. Another reason for the 4-star is that the price point is high. Although, I would give a big 5-star review for customer service had it been included above. We had a shipping issue that was handled promptly and without any hassle. Great customer service!

For years I've been eating all of my meats on dry dish sponges. I really like the texture of a fresh dish sponge, with its infinite absorbency and brilliant colors (I'm particular to yellow and blue sponges). I have to say, even though the Smart Baking Company did their best to try to emulate the sensation of eating a dry dish sponge with their buns, it's just not quite the same. Sure, everything you eat, no matter what you put on it, still tastes like a dry dish sponge. I have to give them credit for the product consistency in every bite. But what's killing me is the caloric value that I'm sacrificing. While they claim "63 calories" as it's some sort of product feature, we all know that the industry-leading dish sponges are "0 Calories" and they taste EXACTLY the same. How do you even compete with that? Even the value comparison doesn't hold up. These are priced at almost 2x the cost of a dry dish sponge which just doesn't compare. Not to mention my kids say they aren't nearly as useful for their art projects, nor does my wife believe they clean our dishes as well. She says the buns just "Fall apart during cleanup after a heavy meal." Totally unacceptable for buns designed to compete with a dry dish sponge! If you want to ensure every meal tastes like a dry dish sponge - these will certainly compete. But if you're going to go for that deep, wholesome flavor, absorbency, and texture of eating a dry dish sponge - I think you could really do better. P.S. Did I mention these taste like eating a dry dish sponge? ;)

These are great! They make Keto so much easier. I use them for all kind of lunchmeat sandwiches, burgers, Cheesesteaks, Meatballs, Sausage, breakfast sandwiches, club sandwiches ect.... Best part is that they didn't slow my weight loss down at all (over 33 pounds so far). How do they taste? They don't have to much flavor (which is a good thing), rather they take the place of bread and allow the meats you eat it with to shine. The one negative I would say is that the bread is a little bit dry, so I use condiments like Mayo for club sandwiches to get past that. I did not think I was going to make it on Keto until I got these rolls. I tried making breaks and never liked them, plus it is just to much work. These will remain a key component in my diet. I now feel like I didn't give up bread. If only I could find a substitute for French fries which I miss badly. If you are doing Keto these are a must have and worth the price. Update as of 10/15/18 - I am not down 55 pounds and I still enjoy these buns and they have made this diet much easier for me. The key with the buns is you need to use a good condiment.

The last time I ordered, I received less than half my order. It was near impossible to contact the company. My credit card company thankfully stepped in. On the actual product, however, I usually love them. These arrived in a smashed box. The buns were smushed and rubbery. I have purchased on Amazon, but they were out of stock, so I tried the online store. The first time was great. I cannot purchase from a company that does not respond when there is a problem.

Wow. Just wow. If I could rate this higher I would. So, I have been on Keto for like 6 months and I really miss bread. When I saw this online, I thought it was too good to be true but I decided to order them anyway since I was desperate. These were absolutely delicious. So far I have used these buns to make grilled cheese sandwiches, French toast, burgers, and even croutons. All of them have turned out great. They have a mild sweet taste, much like regular bun bread. However, unlike regular buns they are incredibly filling. If I eat one with butter slathered on it and drink a glass of water after I’m pretty much set for at least 4 hours. On the note of customer service from the company, they accidentally sent me 4 packages (16 buns) instead of 6 (24 buns). When I contacted them, they were incredibly responsive and very friendly. They sent me a replacement package in just a few days with not just the 2 missing packages of buns but 2 extra packages of buns and some of their sSmark Cakes to try for free. This was very kind of them since they are not a returnable item on Amazon and they didn’t have an incentive to be so nice. I really really appreciated it, but that does not sway my opinion on the product. I love these buns and you can bet your buttons that I am going to order more once I eat mine .

These buns did not have much flavor and, even though they were kind of bland, I could have accepted the lack of flavor were it not for some other negatives. Several reviews mentioned how soft and fluffy these buns were but the ones I received were extremely dry, almost like sawdust. Consequently, they cracked and crumbled badly, making it difficult to eat without having to resort to using a fork. The overall thickness of the bun was too great to be able to be eaten comfortably. Considering the cost of this product, I do not feel it was worth it and will not be buying them again. This is sad because I was super excited about finding a healthier option for making sandwiches.

What a game changer. The buns are moist, toast up nice, and have good body to hold up to hearty burgers or sandwiches. Again, so many people expect to waive a wand and poof, 'I want to eat something that is identical and tastes the same as real bread'. These are not the people that are serious about improving their health, nor will stick to a keto diet. I have lost and kept off 52 lbs the past year and a half. If you properly toast these, you now have burgers, sandwiches, garlic bread, and so much more available to you! The taste is slightly mealy, but that's being picky. Who believes that a bun should taste delicious anyway? It's there as a mechanism to eat the flavored meat, melted cheese, and accompaniments without lettuce or nothing. Take it from me, these are a new staple that are a welcome sight to break up the monotony of lettuce, tomatoes, or other creative bun alternatives.
