Are the pads reusable? Let say i filterd 5 gals and the pressure on the gage didn't reach to high can they be saved for a different batch.

These are single use pads and that is because they are sterile in the package. Running any type of sanitizer through them for your next batch will introduce off flavors to whatever would be run through them next.

how gallons can one set of pads filter?

I do 5 gallons no problem, but you should have racked at least 2 or 3 times. To me this is like waxing a car after a wash, you was (rack) the car first let it dry and wax (filter) I rack at least 3 time. Once after fermentation is complete. Then add fining agents (bentonite for example) after a month, I rack again to remove off any seditment captured by the bentonite and this same day I filter. I usually can go to filter pad 2. For reds I stop there. Most whites can stop there as well. If my goal is to give the wine away, for white I will a month later filter with a number 3 pad. Seems like a lot of work , but I tried inline filtering and too often many things go wrong, so this is the best filter for a homebrewer. Just requires you racked a few times before using.
