TERRIBLE packaging - BEWARE THOSE WITH FOOD ALLERGIES.
LivBars advertise as NUT FREE until you open the package to see in very, very small print over by the barcode "Made in a kitchen that processes tree nuts". NOT okay for someone with PEANUT and TREE NUT ALLERGIES. In 17 years that we have been dealing with food allergies I have never seen an item that advertises NUT FREE until you open the package and search for ingredients as we always do THANK GOD my college age son triple checked the label before eating LivBar.The "made in kitchen that process tree nuts" was not in area with ingredients or in the area of nutritional factsNEVER purchasing again!

Our new favorite nutrition bar
My wife and I are active and often carry food with us when we are out working, hiking, and playing. We have tried many different brands of supposedly healthy snacks, that just left us totally unimpressed. It has been very hard to find a snack bar we can carry with us that has the things we want to eat, but does not have the ingredients we mostly avoid. LivBar has become our new favorite nutritious snack bar.I am not a huge fan of blueberry flavored anything. To me they almost always have a, for lack of a better word, "chemical" after taste. I did not experience this bitter after taste with the LivBar blueberry vanilla bars that we tried first. I really enjoyed the flavor and so did my wife. We both like them better than Kind bars, which have become our go-to portable snacks. Another reason I enjoy them is that they have a lot of flavor without being super sweet. They taste like a granola bar, not a candy bar.The really great thing about these are that they are not just made from cheap and convenient ingredients like a lot of the other healthy snack bars. The main ingredient is organic pumpkin seeds followed by coconut nectar and sunflower seeds which made the flavor different from the mostly peanuts style snack bars in a good way. There are a lot of different ancient grain/seeds and the combination is just delicious. The LivBars are moist and a little chewy which is a great texture for this type of snack. The packaging is strong and they travel well even in a backpack or purse. As an added bonus the wrappers are compostable so they do not need to wind up in a land fill. Our overall opinion of the LivBars is positive and we will be adding them to our shopping list for hiking, traveling, working and just everyday snacks. LivBars are made in Oregon not far from where we live so we get to support a local business by buying a product we love.

If you like blueberries, you'll love this
I have pretty much tried every nutrition/meal/snack bar out there on the market in the past 20+ years, and I think this is a worthy contender. The price on the box might seem intimidating at first, but the per bar cost is $2.50 (at the moment), which is in line with most other bars. The compostable wrapper is a BIG plus, and I don't know why it's such a rarity in the bar industry. (Well, manufacturers more concerned about pennies rather than the environment.)The size and weight is comparable to other bars that are the same or even a higher price.I got the blueberry vanilla and the blueberry aroma and taste is very prominent--which, as someone who likes blueberries, is a plus for me. Coconut is next on the flavor profile. The texture is good, and there is a great variety of ingredients to keep the texture and flavor interesting. They are sturdy enough that they should travel well in a purse or backpack. And unlike other bars, they won't get your hands sticky.According to their website, they are nut-free (only contain coconuts), and are made in a nut-free factory:"LivBars definitely do not contain peanuts, almonds, cashews, or other traditional nuts, and in fact, our facility is completely free of them!"And, according to their website, they were made with a family member's allergies in mind: "We’ve been gluten, dairy, corn, soy, and GMO free since the beginning. Our Founder Jan wanted to create a bar that everyone - including her husband, who has a peanut and gluten allergy - could safely eat, so she created LivBars to be free from all major allergens."And, if you use Noom, the bars are in their database--another bonus.I don't usually like my bars too sweet. (Atkins, Kind, Zone... *ahem*) For me, these were just right. The ingredients used seem to keep me satisfied, and unlike other bars, I'm not hungry again in 15 minutes. So, if you want a bar that was made with others in mind--a lot of care, it looks like--and also satisfies and is nutritious, then this a a great pick.
