The cotton end is about the same size as a plastic swab with 2 cotton ends. The 6" wooden handle is approximately the same thickness as a wooden match, maybe a little thicker.

Are these sterilized with Ethylene Oxide?

Puritan utilizes an EtO process for any products packaged in a sterile wrapped peel pouch, including swabs. Both the products and packaging tolerate the EtO process better than other sterilization methods. Gamma irradiation is used for molded tube products like our dry transport tubes because these products are less permeable and would not be as thoroughly sterilized by EtO." Not wood!!!

Received these and put away as i use them daily for a long term wound bandaging i have to do. Opened them after the return window had closed and found they were not wood despite the fact the box and reference number is for the wood applicator sticks They are plastic which bends and will not work for wound packing. So annoying!!!

Very Useful!
