The bed is awesome..
The bed is awesome... and beautiful as well... The only downside is the first slide provided has information written on the slide about the free $20 choice from the website for bed purchase... Distracting from the picture itself. Hoping that if and when I do order more slides they don't have writing on the picture itself. That is the only reason for not having 5 stars... Otherwise the bed itself is amazing quality, packed well, and beautiful when put together.

Amazing light up headboard.Great sturdy bed.
This bed is very sturdy. My son loves how it lights up. The pictures are in hi-definition. Lots of options for pics. Even different holiday ones. I love how you can set the light to stay on for 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes. It even has a setting so it will fade to off slowly as the time goes down. Its even better in person than the pics show it to be.I wish they had a queen size bed. We just love this investment into our sons first twin size bed.

Defective right out of the box
This bed is one of those "you assemble" models. I have periodically purchased items from other manufactures in the past so I have some experience in assembling furniture. You can assemble with with one person however it will go a lot faster if you have another set of hands. The positive:1. The color of the wood is very nice - the dark stain used for the "espresso" color is beautiful.2. This bed sits up rather high so you will probably have more storage area under the bed.Unfortunately, that is the limit of what I can positively say about this bed.The negative:1. My bed arrived with a minimum of 4 pieces that were defective right out of the box. There were misaligned screws, the wooden headboard cap split, pre-threaded holes were stripped, and threaded inserts were completely missing. The deficiencies were serious enough that I could not work around all the defective parts (trust me I tried). Not a positive experience when we just disassembled the other bed for storage in anticipation of a replacement bed frame and we were 4-days until Christmas.2. Upon making contact with customer service (by phone), I was asked to send pictures of the problems and explain in detail the problems. Not an unreasonable request - I did this and the following day I received a response that the photos were reviewed and replacement parts would be mailed. Great news - at this point, I waited.....and waited.Thirteen days later I send another e-mail asking if they had a tracking number for the parts being mailed. I was advised that it wasn't mailed yet due to "a lot going on with their shipping department due to the end of the year." I was told it would be mailed via 2-day delivery. Fortunately, 4-days after I e-mailed them, the parts were received (I truly think someone forgot) . Unfortunately, 1-piece was still defective and this piece happened to be the illuminated headboard (the wires were damaged either in transit or at the warehouse). In addition, the replacement hardware received was of different lengths than was originally received. Fortunately, we used a lot of the original hardware and improvised with some in a toolbox to at least assemble the bed despite that the headboard cannot light up.I e-mailed the same representative again (with a picture) and another 7-days elapse with no response. It's been nearly a month and I still don't have a bed that can be assembled with the lighted headboard being operational.3. To adequately see the lighted image, you cannot use a mattress box spring (despite the description that states otherwise). Yes, a twin box spring will fit into the foundation however when used with your mattress, half of the image will be covered up by your bedding.4. You are to receive one "starter image" however this image (which is of dolphins) is actually an advertisement and there is print on both sides of the image outlining some details about the coupon (cheesy and misleading as the "starter" image is not one that you'd continue to use after buying more). Considering the price - a true unblemished image should be received with this bed.5. This is my personal preference, but the center leg posts certainly take some getting used to. Our child's prior bed did not have have posts in the middle of the bed and we are CONSTANTLY kicking these posts (which is extremely painful when in bare feet). I bring this up because if you do choose to purchase a bed with the lighted headboard - there appears to be another model that does not have the center leg posts (and you could fit a trundle bed under it).In conclusion, this bed has been nothing but a problem and unfortunately, contact with customer service has not resulted in a timely resolution. I would not recommend this bed and the overwhelming favorable reviews appear to be from people who were fortunate enough to not need to request replacement parts.

Nice, but assembly and image issues:
I thought the idea of the LightHeaded beds was interesting and, after looking at the different images available for the headboard, decided to upgrade my son from his very old twin bed (it originally belonged to his great great grandparents) to this one.The appeal to kids for this bed is the light up headboard. The Lightheaded Beds website has hundreds of different images you can order. The images are printed on a plastic sheet that easily slides in and out of the headboard and is illuminated by an LED light. Included with the bed is a simple, easy to use remote that allows your child to control the brightness of the light, turn it on or off, or to set it to turn off after a certain amount of time has passed. There is also an on/off switch on the back of the headboard. Additional images cost an average of $20; a custom image using your own photo is $30 (but as of the time I'm writing this, is on sale for $20). The bed comes with a coupon for $20 toward your first additional image. The images are suitable for a wide range of ages and include everything from unicorns and dragons to sports and cars, from religious themes to Avengers. The bed requires assembly and can be put together by one person, although having a second pair of hands at some parts of the assembly does make things easier. The instructions were easy enough to follow. You need a philips screwdriver as well as the included allen wrench. I had one significant problem with the assembly -- the included wood screws are not the right size for either of the uses needed for this bed. You first use them to attach the cap to the headboard. The screws are far too long for this purpose. Because you screw them in from the back, I didn't realize at first that they were going all the way through the cap and were sticking out the other side. Fortunately, I had a few shorter screws on hand and used those instead, but you can see the damage to the front of the headboard caused by the included screws if you look closely. The other assembly issue also had to do with the wood screws. You use them to attach the supports under the mattress to the side rails of the bed. In this case, the screws aren't quite long enough! They barely get through both pieces of wood and I felt like it wouldn't take much force at all to pull up the boards by hand. Instead of only one size of screws, they really should have included some very short ones and some longer ones rather than something in the middle that breaks one part of the bed and fails to secure the other. In any case, the bed did get put together and looks nice. The dark wood finish is attractive and the bed feels quite sturdy. My son is very happy with it.In addition to the issue with the screws, I feel like the description of the included image is a bit misleading. Yes, the bed comes with one image for the headboard. However, printed in the corner of the image is a good sized reminder to use your $20 coupon to order another image. If your child is a big fan of dolphins and wants to use the image that comes with the bed, you have to put up with what is basically an advertisement in plain sight. So, the included image isn't really something you'd want to use. The coupon doesn't get you a second image; it gets you the first actually usable photo. While my son likes the bed and it does look good in his room, the problems with the assembly and the basically unusable included photo make this a three star product. I'd happily give it four stars if it came with the proper screws and the image didn't have an ad printed in the corner.
