What is the capacity for the serving dishes?

While I did not specifically measure them as far as ounces goes, I can tell you what I used them for. The 2 larger ones held the following: 1) Held 2 regular sized jars of spaghetti sauce; 2) Held 2 large boxes of Velveeta cheese when melted. The smaller ones held 2 cans (12-14 oz) of sliced mushrooms each. I hope that helps you to somewhat visualize their capacity. I was quite surprised at how much they could hold.

Why does it keep turning off? I turn the dial to a medium heat it cuts off and forces me to turn it higher. It won't turn on at lower levels.

This unit is designed to hold food at a certain temperature. Set the dial according to how warm you want your food to be kept. It will automatically turn on and off to reach and hold the temperature you set it to. Check the temperature of your food and it should, within reason, “match” the dial so to speak.
