Great investment, totally worth the price! We recently moved out of the city to a more rural area.The size and quantities of mosquitos out here is astonishing. Before owning this amazing machine enjoying our New beautiful backyard was impossible.we decided to hang it from the awning close to our patio set, it is large but lightweight and a Standard size J hook holds it firmly.We decided to keep it running constantly. it’s been going strong for over a month and holding up well. It is extremely effective at eliminating the mosquitoes completely! The bright light attracts them, The crackling sound of their demise is satisfying and relieving. The larger mosquitoes typically fall to the ground but some of the smaller ones do get stuck inside. since owning it we have had to clean it out a couple of times, it’s fairly easy to do. The tray just slides out, a quick tap and done. The added cleaning brush really does help a lot.I have no need for citronella candles or any other form of deterrent anymore.Overall extremely happy with this purchase! has been life-changing.

Worked for about an hour before it started having issue.I replaced it once hoping for better results but the replacement performed exactly the same.The zapping grid failed, the lights failed and only after shutting it off for about 20 minutes would it work again but with only one of the two lights functional... Zapping grid would only work for maybe an hour but it's hard to say for sure when the zapping grind actually stopped working.It's a shame that Black & Decker has become a brand to avoid these days.I wouldn't give it any stars at all if the were an option.

My husband and I purchased 80 acres in Northern Michigan, most of which are cedar swamp with some hardwood. About 1 acre is cleared and the mosquitos are terrible. So, we purchased this bug zapper. One day with it up and running, and it's already nicer to walk around outside. Now, we can enjoy our yard and only put on Deet-filled bug spray when we walk into the woods.UPDATE: This bug zapper worked wonderfully for 2 days. Then it totally stopped working. It had some exterior damage from shipping when it was delivered, but it worked, so we ignored it. Until it stopped zapping bugs. Upon looking into it some more, my husband realized it was all broken on the inside, so of course it stopped working. It was amazing it worked at all! So we contacted the company and they quickly offered a refund. I'm leaving the 5 stars because I believe it would work well if it wasn't damaged during shipping AND because the company was super easy to work with. But beware about shipping. It might be better to buy this item from a store.

I’m on my second one of these. Only reason I replaced the first one is because of the one flaw this has. The top piece it hangs from is an integrated plastic hole in the top. Severe weather will cause that hole mount to wear out and crack. My old one lasted two years before a wind storm caused the mounting hole to fail. My fault for not taking it down knowing how bad a storm was coming. It was easier to buy a new one rather than to find a way to hang the old one. Otherwise this is by far the best bug zapper I have used. I’ve tried many other brands and styles of bug zappers and always had way too many mosquitos and other flying insects. Since switching to this i have Alamo’s no issue with any flying insects.

Purchased this recently but didn't put it into use until after the 30 day return period so could send it back. No problem with seller.This product is supported by a company called UMBA group in New Jersey. I believe Black and Decker's only attachment to the product is the use of their name. This bug zapper is a seriously flawed inferior product. When I did set it up and turned it on, it never really worked properly. One of the bulbs would stop working after the unit is turned on for about 10 minutes. Then the zapping action would stop entirely. I emailed UMBA group and requested a replacement unit. They responded and said were going to send you a new bulb and promised tracking information. I never got tracking info and the bulb finally arrived via USPS and was broken upon arrival. When I tried to email them again with photos of the broken lamp I kept getting error messages saying their server wasn't working or something to that nature.The unit is still not properly operational. I have since purchased two other bug zappers for less than what I paid for this one. They are working flawlessly. STAY AWAY from this Black+Decker bug zapper.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I can finally sit on my new back porch without getting bit to death. The bugs have been horrible this year, especially around the porch. In the past, I've tried other types of bug control from foggers to sprays to other types of zappers, but nothing really worked that great. I'm SO glad I decided to try a different zapper. I did a lot of research and the Black+Decker zappers all had rave reviews. I chose this one because it's got 2 acre outdoor coverage. My entire property is only 1 acre, so now I'm good to go. When I first took it out of the box, I was surprised by how lightweight it was. It's nothing like the ugly, heavy old school zappers my parents had. I love the tall sleek design, because it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. It's very stylish looking. It's super easy to hang, use and clean. We hung it on the bottom of the porch and from the minute it was plugged in it started killing all those pesky bugs and mosquitoes. I heard little zaps for minutes! I know this sounds weird, but it was a satisfying sound. I've barely seen any bugs in our entire backyard since it arrived. I wish we had found thing years ago! Now I can look forward to being outside, even during bug season!
