OMRON Complete 2-in-1 Blood Pressure Monitor & ECG for Home Use, Connected

I was sceptical about spending the money (£150 when i purchased, i have seen it since as low as £100) when basic blood pressure monitors are far less, mainly just to get the ecg feature, but it works well and i dont regret it. Doctors found that i have extra beats and while they figure out medication and doses they wanted me to keep and eye on everything at home, so i wanted to get something that could help me take accurate readings. I saw a review mentioning why does it ask for permission to use a microphone, my understanding is that it uses a microphone or multiple microphones in the unit to take the ecg readings. I also saw some reviews mention having trouble getting it to take readings cleanly, from my experiences with it you cannot move at all while it takes the reading, as long as you stay completely still it works well. Its nice being able to keep track of everything on your phone and generate reports showing averages, graphs. Being able to go back and review the ecgs and blood pressure readings. One thing i would like to see is an on/off switch on the unit, aswell as the start/stop button, as i found that if i was on the ecg reading screen on my phone and touched the metal pads on the machine (which if the machine was on would start the reading) even with it "off" ie. The display is off, it would start to take the reading so it must stay connected to the phone by bluetooth even when it appears to be off. So i have been taking the batteries out between uses so that it dosnt drain the batteries. I wasnt overly happy that i would have to pay for premium to use the ecg feature (you get 1 year free included anyway) £9.99 a month or around £55 i think it was if paid in one go, but then i found out that, taking blood pressure readings, ecg readings, exceeding a certain amount of daily steps (measured by your phone or smart watch) keeping track of medication intake and other things earns you points in the app (for most its 300 points per reading, you get 1000 for generating a monthly report, 1000 for creating your account and 10,000 for going premium which is free for the first year) and when you hit 50,000 points you get a £5 gift card that can be used in many places (amazon, argos, supermarkets ect) i redeemed £5 on 7th of February and i only ordered the unit on the 7th of January, and im not using it every day. Less than 2 weeks on from then and i have another 26,000 points, only 24,000 away from another £5 voucher so in my eyes the premium will pay for itself as long as i keep it up and if the rewards stay the same.

Tricky to set up with the app. If you use the Omron app and want to use the ECG facility on this device you need to press the + icon on the bottom left of the screen. This is not mentioned in the literature which comes with the device. Your phone also needs to be resting on the shelf provided on the device.

The instructions for the app aren't the clearest but once it's up and running it's great.

Does exactly what it says very easy to use and record your results in the app

Brilliant bit of kit, very accurate and easy to use. Having the ability to produce charts over time, which can be emailed direct to your doctor is a great plus and one which both my wife and I have made use of. The ECG function is also great, and knowing your probably just having a palpitation or anxiety attack rather than a heart attack does wonders for you're wellbeing. There are only two downsides I have found:- First is battery life, its not great with a fresh set of batteries not lasting very long, I would probably invest in a good set of researchable ones, and secondly, The ability to have multiple people use the same piece of equipment is great, however the recording is not very smart, and I find myself often deleting the previous measurements, as the OMRON syncs with each individual phone it will just transfer whatever the previous measurement is and doesn't differentiate between personal devices.

I bought the Omron Complete as I suffer from occasional fast Atrial Fibrillation so wanted a device that can detect that and measure my blood pressure at the same time. I also have a Kardia Mobile ECG with their advanced detection subscription so I have not taken up the Omron subscription. The ECG recording and analysis appear to be identical to Kardia, so I guess that is what Omron are using. The Android App is OK, even if it does not always recognise that it has finished transferring a blood pressure reading. The main potential issue I have with it is that when I tried to take my blood pressure while having a fast AF episode, it came up with Error E4 where the likely cause is an irregular heartbeat! An irregular heartbeat is a feature of AF, so if this is the case then you can't actually use the Omron Complete for blood pressure readings when you would likely most want to. I will update this review if and when I am able to try again during an AF episode, but in the meantime if you suffer from AF you may be better off with a device such as the Kardia and a different blood pressure monitor.

There was one problem after another with this item. It’s a shame because in the very short time that I did manage to get it working it was good (but not great - worthy of a 4-star review). I owned this item for exactly a month but had it fully functioning for about 3 days in that time. Most of the problems were because of the associated app, rather than this actual machine. ISSUES 1. It took several days to finally get the device to ‘pair’ (connect via Bluetooth) with my smartphone. 2. Heart Rate and Blood Pressure readings were never a problem either reading on the device, or transferring to the smartphone app. 3. However, the ECG (or EKG on the app) readings did not transfer across (and from the screen on the OMRON it was not possible to tell if a reading had been registered). 4. After a couple of weeks of trail and error (i.e. not doing anything different much), the ECG readings did start transferring across – but only for about 3 days. 5. I noted that there was help videos in the app, but some of them didn’t work. 6. After another week of trying to get the ECG readings, the app started to crash every time I opened it. The OMRON device still recorded the Heart Rate and Blood Pressure, which you could view the results on the in-built screen. 7. I spent several hours trying to fix all of these issues at once (reading manuals, visiting help forums, watching videos on YouTube). 8. I cleared the cache of the app and, when that didn’t work, I eventually deleted the app and re-installed it (losing my previous readings – although the device itself stores them for a while). 9. On re-installing, I couldn’t remember my original password, so I went for a fresh set-up. The app remembered my email address, so I had to request a password re-set. I did this twice but never got an email to re-set my password. 10. I could have tried a fresh set-up of the app, using a different email address, but by this time I’d had enough. I didn’t try to speak to Omron directly because they couldn’t have said anything that I hadn’t already tried. This just didn’t work for me, for too many reasons. It’s fair to say that I gave this more than a fair shot. I’m sending this back for a refund and will be getting a simple Blood Pressure and Heart Rate device that doesn’t need an app (I’ll just record the results on a health spreadsheet – recording everything the app allowed you to (e.g. weight changes, exercise, Heart rate, Blood Pressure). And I’ll probably get a simple ECG device that I can read off the screen as well. With this OMRON I was expecting a sophisticated ECG reader, but the pads on the unit seemed no more sophisticated than other devices you can get.

Sehr gutes Blutdruckmessgerät mit EKG Funktion. Einfache Handhabung, wenig Fehleranfällig. Bei meinem alten Messgerät kam fast bei jeder 2. Messung eine Fehlermeldung. Bluetoothverbindung zum Smartphone und Tablet funktioniert hervorragend. Die App ist leicht verständlich. Ich habe das Gerät im Angebot gekauft, hätte es aber sowieso bestellt. Omron Geräte haben eine gute Qualität.
