The Rite of Exorcism: The Roman Ritual: Rules, Procedures, Prayers of the Catholic Church

It’s a very interesting read. The most important point is a contradiction to popular ghost hunters’ beliefs. With good intentions Christians and ghost hunters will tell one to directly confront an evil entity one feels is in their home—“This is my house, you are not welcome here. I command you to get out in the name of Jesus.” The Rite tells us that by directly addressing the demon we are giving tacit notice to it that the war is on, it’s a battle between us and it with Jesus’ name mentioned in the battle. The church believes a layperson should use a deprecatory prayer instead—not confronting the demon but rather asking Jesus to confront the demon and expel it from the home. The reader will learn the great care the church exercises to ensure all other possible medical and natural explanations for the problem have been exhausted before conducting an exorcism as the last resort. The book also explains the differences between obsession, oppression and infestation and describes how a person becomes vulnerable to attack. If one is interested in understanding the Rite of Exorcism then this is the book to read.

I just thought it could have explained it a little bit better. Like do you start at the first page and read all the way through.I know one priest skips some of them. And when do you stop.And how do you know it's over or when the demon has left for sure.

Is there evil around us? AND HOW! For those who are fearless believers and don't have access to a priest go for it, but only if you are up to the task. It needn't be a person you address, but the environment around you such as the home, neighborhood, city.

Completely horrible editing. Looks like a cheap rendition of an unedited manuscript burned off of a copy machine and sent to general public. Quasi-scholarship. Save your money and purchase a substantial publication rather than this half baked rendition of the Roman Ritual.

Finally a book worth my time reading!!!!

At first, I was looking forward to reading Mr. Freze's book. Upon reading it, I became rather disappointed with this publication. First, the table of contents had no page numbers listed! This book also has no bibliography, a list of references, or even a simple index! I have an extensive library on the subject of exorcism. This book appears to be quickly produced from a word processor with little professional editing. He only bibliography the author included was a list of his e-books he offers. A student who wishes a copy of the Roman Ritual can easily obtained it for free off the internet!
