A good Indian restaurant is better
Of the ready to eat Indian entrees I have sampled, this one is meh. I have some average Indian restaurants near me and they do this dish better. Now, there are some places around me that do this worse. The peas and sauce are a little ok the bland side. You can taste a little heat but not much. Overall, I would probably recommend skipping this option unless you have no Indian restaurants near you and can't cook Indian food.

Tasty, a bit of a kick, but the salt!
I love palak paneer and used to be able to buy it locally, but the Pandemic pretty much ended that. A few days ago, I began craving it and began my search, eventually finding this. I was wary---most of the prepackaged palak paneer I've purchased has been kind of disgusting. This, however, is really tasty with a fair amount of heat, which I like. The salt content, though, is outrageous, so I've put it away for a once every month or so treat. If not for that, it would be a big 5 star rating.

Not bad. Too spicy for my taste.
I like trader Joe's brand much better.....Too spicy, not enough of the good cheese, and the spinach was a bit too runny......

It's spicy, not "mild".
I like this stuff a lot, but by American standards it's not "mild". I'd say it's rather spicy. And I like spicy food. But I'm not from India, where standards are totally different.

Authentic
As it says, it is authentic. Some may find it a bit on the hot side, but I usually add a little more red pepper or chopped serrano peppers. The daal itself is most probably masoor. The blend is very tasty, but a little on the watery side, so it may not be good with rice. I eat it like soup and sometimes have a small naan with it. One package is good for one light lunch. It is expensive, but part of that is because of the packaging. The company says that the packaging is designed to keep the daal fresh as it is free of preservatives and other additives.

Very good!
This is very good. I have had the palak paneer previously and enjoyed it, so I am not surprised. I add this to jasmine rice and onions for a quick meal.

The quality I expect from MTR
I'm always a fan of MTR, and this Dal Fry is no exception. It has a nice flavor, comparable to other packaged Dals I've tried. For a meal, you'll definitely want to eat an entire package, but the recommended half-package serving would be reasonable as a side to a main course. The ready-to-eat packaging is great and it's easy to prepare quickly. It's not too spicy, so it's a good for people who aren't used to too much spice. It is relatively salty, so be prepared if you're on a low sodium diet.
