World's hottest jerky this is not
When "Carolina Reaper chili powder" appears *after* soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, pineapple juice, water and, hell, even Tabasco sauce, on the ingredient list, you shouldn't be surprised when there really isn't that much heat to speak of in your jerky. It's only fair for me to say that the jerky itself is very tender and the base flavors (brown sugar, pepper, smoke) all blend nicely to make this a great-tasting snack, but I expected this to stand out with regard to heat. Unfortunately, if you can handle a jalapeño, you can handle this, and the use of Carolina Reaper in any capacity here is mainly baseless signaling.

Delicious!
Delicious Jerky. Here is some insight on the different flavors:Hot: This is the least spicy out of the group for sure. It was tough, dry, and very salty. Not what I was expecting, but still good. The spiciness comes from the red pepper flakes that cover each slice of meat. It's a spicy flavor, not a spicy feeling. The saltiness is what makes this flavor work out, if you like salty foods that is. The texture of this jerky was completely different than the others, which is why I settled on 4 stars. The bag of Hot just doesn't seem as fresh as the other flavors.Habanero: My favorite of the bunch. Finished this one first. The meat is soft and succulent. There is a tangy sweetness that hits your tongue first, then a gradual build up of heat. This jerky does not pack a massive punch, but the more you eat of it, the harder it hits of course. The texture is sticky and it smells very fresh.Ghost Pepper: Was not actually expecting this one to be as hot as it is. I like spicy food (obviously, why else would I buy this pack?) and the Ghost Pepper jerky is definitely spicy. The texture of the jerky is even stickier than the Habanero, and the jerky is so soft that it is difficult to tear a piece off. You get the same tangy sweetness as the Habanero, but with a little more savory mixed in. The heat settles in almost immediately and continues to radiate throughout your mouth for a while, even after you have eaten it. I can't eat more than a couple of pieces at once, but it is very enjoyable.Carolina Reaper: Have you ever had anything with fresh Carolina Reaper before? That pepper is no joke. A little bit goes a LONG way. The texture of the jerky was sticky like the other two. The first piece I pulled out was covered in seeds, and that's the one I popped in my mouth. The intense heat is instant, providing a wonderful flavor and pain all at once. You can taste the sweetness they flavor the jerky with, and it pairs perfectly with the spiciness. I maybe should not have eaten the entire, seed-covered piece that I pulled out... but that's in the past! After about 10 minutes, the pain from the heat was still going strong, and my body started to shake. You go through a cycle of panting, squeezing your eyes shut, taking gulps, and fidgeting from the heat. After about 25 minutes, the heat had let up and I was ready for more. There's something addictive about Carolina Reapers, you just have to experience it for yourself. All in all, great flavors and mostly fresh jerky. I really wish my Hot had been as fresh as the others, but it was still enjoyable regardless. I recommend these for the other spicy jerky enthusiasts out there.

Go ahead, torture yourself.
Holy cow f*!%ing hot!! My husband is a chili head and is always looking for the next hottest thing. I bought this as a stocking stuffer. I like heat too (not as crazy as my husband) so I thought I'd try it out. Usually when a package says it's extremely hot, it's really not. Even though it said Carolina Reaper on the package, I was in denial. Don't make the mistake of trying a large strip. Try a small piece first! I tried what I thought was a normal strip of jerky. It actually was soft and had a sweet flavor at first...seconds later the heat creeps in...fire in my whole mouth, and my tongue felt like it was swelling up. All I could do was wait it out. With my tongue sticking out of my mouth and panting. My husband actually thought this was hot too! So this purchase was a success. Stupid me, I enjoyed the flavor so much I went back later the next day and tried some more, with the same painful but delicious results. I don't think I can torture myself any longer with this jerky, but if your the type that likes that kind of rush, go for it!

Do I complain about the "hottest" claim?
I'm not sure if I should complain about the fact that his claims to be the hottest jerky in the world. Something has to be hotter than it, likely created by dumping a ton of pepper extract onto jerky and making it taste awful. If you want the actual hottest jerky in the world, you should probably look harder, but I wouldn't be surprised to find that this is the hottest jerky in the world that actually tastes good. The taste is the big draw here; the meat and spices are both good stuff and so it tastes a lot better than stuff you'd get from a vending machine. Can I taste some of the actual reaper pepper in there too? I think so, but it'd take eating another bite to confirm and it's a good idea to stick to like one square inch every ten minutes or so, since this is definitely the sort of thing that will melt your face. This makes for a very satisfying jerky that will be a good enough approximation for the hottest if you're not that into heat, but if you are this is just...perfect. It's just punishing enough where real spice fans can say, yes, this is what I've been looking for.
