Is the usb charging port type c?

The charging port into the remote is micro-USB. The included charging cable goes from that micro-USB to regular (type A) USB. The assertion in another answer here that the micro-USB port is unfortunate because of its limited plug/unplug cycles is interesting; I get 2-3 months per charge on this remote, so I should never wear out the charge port; but maybe if you use a headphone that sucks out your battery charge every day, then the charging port durability might indeed matter.

How is the quality of the private listening audio (via headphones) compared to audio quality using the Roku app on smartphone?

The audio is decent. You don't get the volume range like tv, so I find myself putting it at 50. I like it better than the app since mine always glitches when I lock my phone

Is the rechargeable battery removable?

I've had my Roku Voice Remote Pro for 1 1/2 years and have recharged it quite a few times. I'm not aware of the battery losing its ability to hold a charge. I WOULD prefer removeable, rechargeable batteries. I have dozens of those in AA and AAA size, and swapping those in would be much less convenient than USB charging, also I wouldn't have to sweat the battery going bad, which it eventually will.

Is there a way to buy the old but superior version with aa batteries? my dad's ultra remote charge port broke, and i'd like to get him an upgrade.
